I saw it last night, phoned this morning at 9. Left number, asked for first refusal. Told salesman would be in at 10. Phoned at 9.55, salesman not yet in. Phoned at 9.59, engaged. Got through at 10 past. Car sold. Guy had 2/3 numbers in front of mine!

just so happens i have a turbo 6 with 99k on in the same colour..bought it as tax and mot ran out ..took it for mot yesterday and it passed without an advisory so anyone wants a near mint turbo 6 with full mot 6 months tax i have one for sale..it is a nice colour as well

not sure what i am going to do with it untill i see it but i bought it as its same colour as my turbo6... funny thing is i had never seen this colour untill i bought the six speeder then this pops up! .. i have the idea of making the plus a nice car as the 6 speed is as near mint as any i have seen so i can use whatever i need from it and the wheels from 6 speed are literally unmarked so can swap them..etc..etc..and try for a good plus and average 6 speed out of it

patch you must have done same to me as i saw that yellow one on pistonheads by the time i got in touch it was gone..i wanted that for my engine!

as for mine ..engine is running and we are waiting for the exhaust guy to come back from holiday to build the system on the car..not done anything else with the green car yet as i still hope to find a nice chassis then we will assembl all suspension and brakes and other mods and swap motor over

I actually haggled a bit before I bought mine. He was a very nice chap, he said there was loads of interest between me contacting him and finalising the deal. Funny how some cars fly out the door (figure of speech) while others linger!

Don't go on ebay or the forum for ages, spot the coupe add and sold on it, go straight to the forum and surprise surprise, talked about by the same usual suspects and bought by one of the usual suspects, KTM seems to have all the luck... That's the second sub 1k plus he's had in the last few months...

Sprinty is VERY quick and shoud be about 350 when fleamapped... Just doesn't idle that well an has a habit of stalling due to overfuelling...

i would certainly sell the plus if i find /or swap it for, a nice chasis for my engine ,as that is what i am trying to achieve....apparently it has a scrape on the door but unless its something special i am not too fussed as it was not something i had my eye on so if someone really wants it we can discuss when i have collected it..

marco if you really like the colour.. the 6 speed is the same colour it only needs an le kit to look same and it only has 99k and as mentioned before it passed mot with no advisories so has full test and 6 months tax..its exceptionally clean and a lot less than a plus of same age and condition if you are interested pm me

Coolant hose of death...cooked engine...compression low on two cylinders now..Still starts and drives damaged nether less.Gutted.

yes its been fired up and started on the button no trouble at all ..apparently noisy though as it was just turbo and no exhaust! it will be sat for a couple weeks before exhaust then mapping and if i don't find a chasis then the green one will get all the mods.....whats your chasis like? bodywork etc

Have to agree with this ^ It's what, £2.5k below your average Plus value? Car traders aren't normally that stupid, and I imagine he'll get more than £750 via the auction now.

did anyone see the original add? look carefully at those pics and tell me if you see a smart car..look at the discs still steel not choroded rust..is that what i found when i arrived do you think?

anyway..i had spoke to the guy told him i was a trader also and whats the score with the car ..he told me a little scrape on the side..i asked if it would make a good one and he told me easily thats why he hasn't sent it off to the auction..also that it was a great motor and driver

when i got there i found the whole side badly rippled and i mean badly including swage line which as you know are a horror to sort when creased up,both arches rotten with metal flaked away so inside lips nearly gone..(i had asked if it had any rust and been told there was none) i am already aware of scottish roads and salt/damp issues from my van buying from there and they rot much more than further south..
i didn't need to look too hard underneath..
the brakes i had been warned had issues(on the day) but worked ,were badly rusted and choroded so it had been stood a fair while, tyres were good but cheap, every wheel needed refurb.. light cups some choroded, rear bumper crack in corner again needing replacing or full sorting and painting as did whole side..
interior.. fronts very worn worst i have seen probably 3 bolsters needed replacing..
but the real clincher was the motor..it was sick very cammy sounded like the old datsuns 240s etc when they got worn out ..and then i was litteraly speechless when i went for the bonnet pull cable and it had been removed! which is the oldest trick in the book when you dont want someone under the bonnet..tried to tell me it had snapped on him that morning! but there was no ends or sign of it at all

it was a complete shed.. to me beyond doing anything with..
as a trader i expect the worst i have heard it all and seen it all before so was prepared to take it as a breaker even.. but it wasn't worth taking for that!

it would have cost me £150 to get there and get it home at least so it would owe me £900.. to get my money back and make it worth the time and effort was not possible


how much would you spend refurbing to get £300 back on wheels?
how much are 3 bolsters fitted ? all the running round stripping out delivering to specialists ..time and money involved in it all ..unless you have done it you have no idea what breaking one and selling the bits entails


sure there were a few panels,lights etc but they are all 10 a penny now on ebay and the forum the only bits of worth were the plus bits which were all shit..the engine was not saleable,turbo smoked,couldn't see what was wrong under bonnet so i doubt there was saleable goods there.. it has to be in good condition for people to want it..

there were other issues as well but the main thing was it would never have got me 200+ miles home..i said to the guy "would you drive that over 200 miles?"
his answer was "the owner was driving it"
i asked again and he once again diverted from answering

the reason he has listed more of its faults was because i was bloody angry and told him if someone else came they could likely be more upset than me so he should relist and be honest about the state of the car

anyone buying take a trailer..you'll be lucky to get home..take some tools lift the bonnet and see if it has oil in it as it doesn't sound like theres much in there! and fix the skirts to the car as they are flapping and you will lose them

rest assured dan you had a lucky escape and i copped unlucky!
couldn't have happened to a nicer guy some of you may titter

do not go thinking you will fix it up its a rotter..unless you want a full restoration leave it alone

oh and the guy was driving it because he was reasonably local and when it was absolutely last legs he traded it in..sensible guy i bet he wouldn't drive it 200 miles either!

i have just relooked at the new add and that car still looks tidy ..you have to say its bloody photogenic..wish i turned out that well

it happens all the time things can look great in photos but in the flesh are real mingers i would have been over the moon if it had looked half that good

I can vouch for what Rob says, i was with him.

This car needs to be given away for anyone to make a half decent attempt at repairing, and with a decent budget in mind.

It's not worth scrapping.

hi tom ..it was asking a lot ..a good plus for 750 but i only cared about the chasis if that had been half decent the rest i could have sorted..same for bodywork i was happy to do a scrape or two, swap doors ,wings,bumper whatever but a rotten one.. no chance!

Yes there really are 16v and 16vt plusses,

They were standard cars, factory fitted with leather, aircon and sunroof. They shared the same body version codes as the standard cars.
