Fit them yourself, it's really a simple job, not worth paying someone to fit.

Agreed. Get yourself some TigerSeal, or something similar, and someone to help hold in place while the sealant goes off.

So I take it there is no way of removing the skirts without breaking them to get them painted for instance? I didn't know they were glued on!!

You may be able to get them off using a Sharp knife/hair drier on the glue or even just pulling them off by hand. The but here is there may also be additional fastners holding them on and you may damage the skirts if you're too enthusiastic.
