Hi everyone. I hope you all had a great Christmas and new year? xmas

I had a great break this year and my main toy Santa got me was a nice big telescope. I've chucked it up a few time already and had some great views of the moon and Juiptur and now want to start getting into setting it up and using it properly so I can start getting my camera tied up to it.

So are any of you guy into this sort of thing and can you recommend a good forum for me to join up? I'm a total novice at this and am looking for a group that understands that we all have to start somewhere.

Cheers, Chris.

used to do this years ago. to use a camera you really need a motorised mount to track the sky for long exposure shots.

I've got this already although I've not fitted it yet.

Just remember - don't use the 'ology' word on the astronomy forums and you'll be all right!

That would be a start, anyway.

I was an astronomical telescope maker for over twenty years. I'd be glad to chat with you by PM if you like.

I looked into this (no pun intended smile ) a few years ago and the consensus of opinion seemed to be the use of a specific webcam and eyepiece adaptor (not expensive type) to produce excellent results by "stacking" images on top of each other via a PC.

Following my health scare I never took it any further but there should be loads of info on t'interweb. smile
