As part of me buying a new house, i'd like to create a 3D model of the interior so i can experiment with furniture options/measurements etc.

This shouldnt be too much of a stretch for me as i have a history of 3D Computing Game Level Design. However this was always using bespoke design programs, so the thought of having to learn 3D Studio Max or whatever for this task is a bit daunting.

Can anyone recommend an easy to use, but relatively flexible 3D design program which might suit me?

It must be able to work to real-life measurements (ie millimeters/cm or inches)

It must have a rendering ability so i can see how it looks as i build it up.

If it comes with prefab home interiors like sofas, kitchen bits, beds etc. That would be even better.

Google sketch is very easy to use (I used it for an extension design and was pretty impressed with the results). It is limited on the built-in prefab interiors (and tiling/carpet effects etc), but in terms of adding furnishings, there are plenty on t'web you can import into it.
