I have got a large bonus coming next week from work, on top of this I have almost completed two weeks of not smoking.

As a self incentive I was going to treat myself to something... I was thinking an iPad2

I have the iPhone 4S... what am I going to achieve by having an iPad ?

Or what else should I treat myself to?

Just buy another Coupe; the money will soon disappear and you will restart smoking

I have an iPhone4 and an ipad2

The iPad is great for most of the leisure stuff you'd do on a lap top - surfing, listening to music, watching films/tv, playing games. I no longer use a laptop but use the big (27") desktop for the stuff the iPad won't do - mostly HD video editing, uploading Garmin data and, err, that's about it. With iCloud anything you do on one device can be updated onto the other device. I'm very happy with the iPad.

I have both and happy for it - get it and consider apple tv too

Get an iPad or whatever else you want to reward yourself, but you should also treat yourself to an E Cig as well, just in case you feel the urge to smoke.

It will help a lot and will be the best treat to give yourself for the future, as you don't want to go back to smoking and two weeks off the fags doesn't mean you're going to stay off them forever (I hope you do, but you know what I mean)

I didn't know if to get one or not, but decided to mainly for videos for my son on a flight to Florida. Only had it a few days, could have bought it here for $499 from vending machines you see around! But decided from John Lewis with a 2year warranty was the best option.

I have 3gs, but was wanting iphone for browsing online and playing games.

Only this is, I would still need to use my notebook for downloading etc......

I was drawn to the Ipad when i saw it, but then thought "what would i actually need it for"

Then my wife bought an ipad2 for my 30th.......

Its the most used piece of tech i have and have owned, i do loads on it. Saves powering on the laptop for emails & surfing, and as someone above mentioned, when linked with Apple TV, is great! Also use it for calendar & appointments, notes, reminders, loads of stuff.

Go get one!!

I had the same revelation when MrsC got me one for Christmas last year. I only use the laptop these days if I'm typing a long document/translating.
I really like the flexibility and portability. Plus the instant-on and day-long battery life.
