Just returned from my hols (Zolder and the 'ring) with rear tyres very illegal. First thing online I checked was the forecast, second thing was this thread. I knew Nigel would be pleased, oh arse! banghead
So what time does driving (spinning) commence? smile

Thanks. Very little activity on here today, is everyone working on their cars? At least the forecast has saved me the trouble of washing them.

Fixed a hole in the turbo hose, washed the car and need to tweak launch and traction control laugh

Dad's just had his wheel bearing done at Motormech, so he's got no excuse now wink

I reckon there's some foul play here though, it's funny how the day before an event where Nigel isn't guaranteed victory, his Coupé develops a mysterious oil leak ...

Maybe it's just having a bit of a wee with the prospect of my brother/Nigel's eldest son behind the wheel driving

Just came back from the garage. Got rid off the air from the system, flushed the fluid (mixture of Millers 300+ and ATE Super Blue) then on the way back home one gear selector link slipped off so I had to spin it and back to the garage again... You gotta love this cars! banghead Still some work to do but that's for after the track day. laugh

See you tomorrow!

Yup - one problem fixed (utterly fubar'd rear wheel bearing) - two more discovered (blowing flexi-joint in the downpipe and a decent oil leak, probably from the oil supply pipe to the turbo)

Still - the oil's only getting on the back tyres..... rolleyes

Lol! It's lashing down here ... a few miles away!

I was holding out, to see if I could at least get there in the dry. But it looks like I'llbe bringing the daily run-about and not the Westy. frown

It's slippery.....

Couldn't even get the power down at base boost - front tyres are on the wear-bars which was just too much to ask of them

Didnt stay to long just a quick hello, got soaked and a spin in mayzons coupe.
Cheers Martin, certainly event full lap with some very much sideways action at the bottom corners.

Seems very slippy indeed. Hope you had fun in the afternoon guys.

So who was the quickest in the end?

Well that was fun laugh I think it was JBT that got the quickest time with a 1.14.8.

Thanks to all those that helped out with the running of things.

Hope next time is a bit drier.

BUT as we were timing to 2 decimal places only, there was a 3 way tie between JBT, Sandytim and Fishy Dave, so well done to all of those at 1.15!!!

It was very wet, it was cold and it was miserable, but what a great day and good to see so many hardened coopsters out there (and the other lads). Begbie had a 300 mile round-trip, so fair play to him bow

Great fun as usual, just a shame it was too wet to bring the Indy.

Cheers for the rides out in Senny Dave's chauffeur-driven 7 series and Fishy Dave's Caterham and Celica. Who'd have known they made a RWD celica laugh crazy The 7 series looked like a barge, but actually handled very tidily.

Begbie's car really impressed. That'll be a monster in the dry cool

Looking forward to the next one evil

Proccy as im sorry I said fat.m was quicker than you.its unfair that the only 14sec time gets taken away.
Your hair looked great you were faster than him and you looked slender as always.

Seriously though many thanks to Paul for organising this and for those who spent the day in the rain on the flags.
Highlight was going out with sennydave in the v8 BMW until Dave kindly took me for a lap in the caterham.
Scared the living day lights out of me and all credit to the best driver out there, for controlling it in such conditions.
My car was great and I have never had to concentrate so hard.
Was a constant fight to keep it on the track whilst pushing the times more and more .

Look forward to the next one.

Agree laugh Shame that when THAT happened my camera run out of memory and the mp4 file is corrupted - I cannot open it! banghead Can anyone help?

Also, car pissed me off just when I was about to set my fastest lap time tongue the gear linkage came off the pin again - wooohooo!

JBT - thanks for your help and for the passenger ride in your rocket!

It was goo fun and it was good to meet new fellow coupe owners and attach names to faces. Thank you everyone involved in organising the day.

Great fun, completely knackered now and driving home was somewhat interesting with all the standing water on the motorways!!

Video's I'll do tomorrow, including my flymo incident and my expertly caught slide into the first corner laugh Jack, shame your video has buggered up frown But your wheels and helmet are in the garage until the next Ace meet.

Thanks to the flag people, timing people and everyone who stood out in the rain thumb

My 1st time at curborough shame I didn't take my own coupè but apart from the cold wet rain it was a good day, watching you all try your best to get the fastest yet safest times from your cars, meeting some new faces and old friends, a few slips n slides but all went well smile

Can I just say a big thank you to the lads that did there bit in helping with flags and timing, that way everyone gets a fair share of track time, and porkypaul you did a great job off today from organising the day, collecting payments, keys and setting the track up so it was safe to use, you did a grand job, looking forward to the next track day where I shall hopefully be in attendance with my own coupè work permitting laugh

A cracking (if damp!) day out ... and great to meet old faces and new smile

It was a real shame that I couldn't bring the Westy out to play ... with no roof, it would have turned into swimming pool laugh

I tried my best to squeeze a decent time out of my Seat but its peak speed down the straight of 60 was hampering my efforts somewhat!

Some great driving on display though ... with particular mention to Fishy, JBT and Senny Dave. Also to Sandy Tim, for his dark horse performance.

Finally a massive thank you to PorkyPaul for organising such a great day, and to all the people who took turns on the start smile

Roll on the next one (hopefully dry!)

Cheers Paul for all your work in organising the day out.

Thanks to all with flags and stopwatches.

Thanks to all for not giggling too much at my driving wink

Three and a half hours drive home with lots of censored cloud9 s doing 85 down the M11 with NO LIGHTS ON. Where is Stan when you need him?

Good to see you all and hope everyone got home safely,

Tim
