How petite is quite petite What cars have you had before. My wife is only 5ft 2 and what she doesnt like is that you cant see the end of the bonnet, she's never driven it mind ) I tell her I cant see the end of the bonnet either, what do you want to see the end of the bonnet for! By all means take the motor out for a drive at weekend but if you've never even been in one take your time, don't just buy the first one you see. (unless it's an absolute cracker and you know the owner ). Read some of the threads and the buying guide on here and see if there is a forum member can take a look at the car with you. (just say "I'm a girl, anyone want to help me pick a coop" and you should get one or two replies) What made you want one just like that

I think the only way we can answer that question is if you post some pictures of yourself with something in them to judge your size

Steering column adjusts for rake and reach (I think), seat height doesn't. Don't know how petite you are, but my 5'4'' wife never had ANY trouble driving the Coupe without any visibility issues. I always thought the seat came quite a way forward on the runners, the wife didn't have it as far forward as she could have, so being under 5'4'' shouldn't be too much of a problem. My only other advice would be to read the buyers guide in this section, print it off and take it when viewing; to test drive more than one car before buying; check the service history; buy on condition rather than age or mileage and if the seller is willing and you are in proximity to one, get the car checked over by Coupe specialist garage. Best of luck Oh and have you seen Che's 20v n/a for sale on here - looks a very nice example

right...this is my motoring history...got my first car 6 months ago, bought purely for practical reasons. just wondering what to buy next when I spotted a neighbour's blue 20VT parked outside the house...and that was that:) the shape, the design...perfect. Not only pretty but fast as well:) and as for being interested in where the end of the bonnet is I'm more interested in seeing cars in the rearview mirror:) I've seen the buyer's guide, have an advisor, have been through the red key issue...the car is in wakefield, it's a met red 98 S 52k. anybody knows anything about the car? The owner appears to have "lost" its service history but seems the car might be worth a look (just a 400 mile round trip:)

No matter how good it may sound, or how appealing the price, the words 'the owner seems to have lost the service history' starts alarm bells ringing. Go along by all means, even have a sit in it , but just be very wary. Coupes are well built & reliable (on the whole), but a bad one will empty your bank account quicker than a Nigerian Widow of a wealthy doctor.

400 mile round trip is a long way to go to see a car with no service history. Is it a dealer of private.
If it's a 20vt you'll deffo be seeing a few cars in your mirrors,....... It's the flashing blue lights that p!ss you off though.
Seriously you will need someone to look it over if it has no history, you must have read threads on 'cam belt' on here, at 52k it's not reached the mileage yet but at 8yrs old they are overdue, so you need to budget 500 quid for this if it's got no history
car allegedly does have SH and cambelt changed but documentation got lost and I'm trying to confirm through previous owner
You sure you weren't just looking in the mirror joking of course.
...they say mirrors never lie?

Came2dance - you need to go & have a cold shower Monika - your main problem is that most of us here are coupe mad blokes and the mere whiff of a petite female sittin' in a coupe get 'em all hot under the collar, so you'll have no problem getting help Have a look at the car & if you like it there is usually someone around from here who would gladly come & see the car & give it a quick check over for you.

TBH, any car that has paperwork that has 'gone walkabout' is usually a lemon.
There are many owners in the oxford area, so you should be able to find someone willing to help.
What model were you looking at getting? From what you've said so far it sounds like you are after a late 20v non-turbo with air-con - that shouldn't be hard to find, and you have the added bonus of not having to worry about turbo issues. Also, the non-turbo models are relatively cheap, so you should get a lot of car for your money. The best advice I can give you is to hold out for a good one where the owner is meticulous about ownership, this will save you a lot of hassle in the future. You may pay a bit more for such a car, but it will save you in the long run.

yes I've been looking to get a non-turbo, 97, 98 or 99 but I don't want to spend more than 3000. is there a list of owners on the website to track their locations?

I got a forum owned 97 P 80k, yellow 20v n/a, cloth, sunroof and a/c for £2k in November in pretty good nick bodywork wise, have spent another £800-odd on servicing and MOT (the cheaper ones will almost certainly need money spent on them) ...so for your budget it is defintely possible. Non turbos come up often on ebay and AT, should be easy enough to get one especially as prices have come down a little more since which is for me, but for you

test drive tomorrow is purely for experience. car was looked at today by Andy and aircon not working, oil pressure reading max constantly, exhaust blowing plus lots of other niggles. but it will prepare me more for when the right one comes along...not like the one in Wakefield which turned out to have had a colour change from red to yellow to red within the space of 2 months...and a cat D accident
Vicks - so many coupe things going through my mind at the moment misread your post...
my conclusion so far - cheap private sales.. dodgy background (please all of you prove me wrong), dealers cars genuine history but amazingly tatty
will let you know how long the grin lasts after tomorrow's test drive...

seen Che's here and on pistonheads, could be very interested but in the sunny south the sun is shining and I would really like aircon:) unfortunately I would have to insult Che on price to justify a 1300 mile round trip...but maybe after a long drive like that winter will have set in down here in oxford so I wouldn't need aircon?

Not necessarily a bad thing - when I used thicker oil it was always around the max mark. It's when it is low you wanna worry

Fresh, It's worth taking the time to find the right car with a good history. Don't be tempted to buy something because it's cheap, it'll only cost you more in the long run. When I looked around for one I wanted an NA without Aircon so I could get to know a bit more about the cars without having extra things to go wrong. As it turns out mine has been great, but I live in Aberdeen so the reliance on Aircon isn't great! Feel free to PM me if I can tell you anything useful, Vicks has a nice car and it's closer to you so I suggest you bully her in to selling it to you! Oh, Easyjet, Luton - Aberdeen, prices from £25

Che, I have looked at easy jet flights as an option but not sure if I should compromise on aircon as this one one of the main criteria for my next car. but I have to admit I keep looking at your ad and it does appear to be a good one...and my favourite colour...maybe a sunroof could be a compromise...:)
