Hi, a friend of mine asked me if he can fit a 20 V Turbocharger Unit on his 16v model?

Anyone did it over here and is the 20v turbo unit better than the 16v turbo unit?

There would be a lot of work involved to do so. The flange on the 16vt is a T3 whereas the 20vt is a T28 (or T25) flange. The downpipe would need changing as well, so it's probably best he doesn't do it.

thanks alot Begbie! so its not worth doing it at all...

what about chipping the ECU is it a straight forward job like the 20v turbo model (is the chip plug and play or soldering is needed for the new chip to be seated?)

regards,

noel.

I see topic is 6 years old but still it may have some useful infos...

I dont know if anyone tried this yet, if yes it would be nice to share experience here...
Apart from mechanical mods what would be pros/cons of TB2810 in 16vt engine with all stock internals? Better spool probably comparing with original T3, what will happen with top end?
20vt can produce around 250 chipped easily, can 16vt do the same with TB28?
Both engines have same capacity and probably 'breathe' similar with 4 valves per cilinder, compression ratio is 8:1 (16vt) and 8.5:1, does it make a big difference?

At the moment building one lampredi turbo 2 liter engine from scratch and would like to have reasonable power (around 250) and spool in relation with cost...

Thanks for opinions and experiences
