Parkrun is such a brilliant concept.
I appreciate the ground may have been a little uneven to make you trip, but it is much better for the joints than running on Tarmac.

A colleague at work did the Belvoir marathon last week; finished mid-way in spite of his training regime of 'my leg hurts, I'd better not run, I'll have a fag instead'...

Yes you are right, Parkrun is very good, as the soft ground is much beter on all the joints and the runners aren't too serious.
Had I not fallen, I'd have easily completed a PB as the two people ahead of me finish a minute ahead! rolleyes
It's also a good excuse to take the coupe for a Forest run as well!! laugh

I like that too.
You can have your own race if you want.

I got a couple of personal bests this weekend.
Parkrun 5k in 21:21
Goring 10k in 45:54

I'm very tempted to get the Coupe out this weekend too!

Two seperate trail runs today both around 5kms. A bit slow on the second one, the first in the Forest of Dean and the second nearer to home.

You're spoilt for choice with the Forest of Dean nearby.

I was more than a minute slower on the Parkrun this morning. I think the long training runs for next weekend's Reading Half Marathon are ruining my pace.

Yes the distance running takes the edge off my pace too!
Sadly once past your mid forties, the differnce between "sprints" and "jogging" becomes a tad indiscernable!

Good luck in the Half Marathon next week.

Thanks! I definitely need some luck.

I'm about to creep into the VM 45-49 category this year...

Not posted on here for a while now, but yesterday got a personal best.

Burnham Joggers has a club event on Sunday morning called the ENVA 10. Basically a 10 mile course around the Dorney area.

I posted my fastest ever 10 mile with very little long distance training.

1h 22 minutes and 38 seconds. Pretty mcuh managed to maintain an 8:15 mile pace all the way through. Dead chuffed, just got Reading Half marathon this coming weekend to do now. smile

I'm starting to think it is better to do the core fitness training on the bicycle, and the leg strengthening with lots and lots of short 5k runs.

I'll keep an eye out for a Burnham Joggers T-Shirt on Sunday. I guess we should be in about the same place at the start - going for a 1:45 to 1:50 ish time.
I'll be in a light blue & white Sue Ryder vest.

Hi Skinflint. I am I the 1h30 to 1h40 section, but only because I am using somebody else's place. I am aiming for 1:50 so we should be around the same speed. I will be the tall skinny one in a burnham joggers t shirt. Also look out for the yellow van in the car park.

Weather doesn't look too good for Sunday - temperature is OK (between 3 and 9C) but lots of rain by the look of it.

Another Reading Half Marathon complete
I have a severe bout of runner's nipple which could keep me off work for weeks, and consumed more sachets of performance enhancing gels, proteins, electrolytes etc. than Lance Armstrong, but it was worth it.
Nobody can strip me of my 1:41:45 smile

Excellent time Skinflint. I managed 1:50:02 which I am happy with due to my distinct lack of long distance running. Next year Rodney, next year.

That's a good result to get the time you trained for. I see about 12,800 crossed the line, but up to 18,000 registered. I wonder if the weather put people off?

I'd recommend the New Forest half. Very hilly and muddy depending on time of year. (time of year for mud, it's always hilly!) It was my first half and very hard work but I felt a huge sense of achievement at the end. Plus of course I know I can (easily?) beat my time in my next half!! 2:00:53

Started running at christmas to support my lad joining the Air Force, he's since found booze. 5k 23.30 10k 50:30. Really addicted to it, stopped drinking and adjusted my diet to try and improve on my times.

Your right cooper it is very addictive. The addiction only comes after a certain point though as I keep telling my dad.

I fancy doing the Grim Challenge in aldershot this year. I think it might possibly be the hardest 8 mile running race ever.

Hey Elder. My son completed the grim last Dec, it's actually not that bad. The downside being you have to queue to get past certain obstacles. It was freezing when he did it too. He was 17, now in the RAF smile

We did a 30 mile XC in January and it was so muddy that it took 5 hours. The first pint afterwards and the Brandy that followed were absolute heaven! beer angel

New Parkrun PB today.

Nice one skinflint. Achieved another personal best on Friday. Did Maidenhead 10 mile race in 1:20.12 which I am very happy with. Then followed up this morning with a 7 mile recovery run which did the world of good. Need to get a 5k done soon as no idea how quick I am over 5k currently.

That's a big step forward in pace. 0.6 mph faster than Reading which should be a similar pace given it is flat etc.
You might be quite pleasantly surprised when you run a 5k.

Well I need to update my time, the 1:20.12 was in fact my clock time and not my chip time. My chip time was 1:19.51!

Woo Hoo! Funny how much of a difference 21 seconds can make!
