No need to replace the turbo right now but the time will come eventually.

The standard turbo has a quite slow spool-up and I would be be interested if there is a replacement turbo a more modern spool-up without the ketchup effect. I am not after more top end power, just a bit better everyday drivability.

What are my options?

I wouldn't say the standard turbo was slow to spool up?

The superspool is on song by around 2300rpm and has a broad spread of torque which makes it very drivable in most day to day situations. Be careful fitting a FMIC with this turbo though, I'm not sure it's needed and the two don't seem to go together too well, mine felt much better with the Pace Chargecooler and updated SMIC, the FMIC just introduced more lag and made it somehow very on/off.

Just my opinion.

I have yet to see any turbo on a Coupe that has faster spool than the standard item. That's not to say it couldn't be achieved, but as standard it is really very good. What I have worked on over the last year (not just on the Coupe), is to produce turbos that are so close to standard in response, but with far greater torque and power. These new turbos really are exceptional, quite simply amazing response with huge power.

If you want to go down the route of maximum spool and response, then I would be happy to develop a turbo for you Rask.

Thanks Flea! I'll keep you in mind.

Generally, I want to keep the car for the long run and don't want to go down the maximum power route. I understand it's not the normal way to go...

I would be fine with max torque and power to be about the same as today but to a substancial boost already at 2000 rpm. Now it's more like 3000+ rpm.

A bit less big-turboSaab Viggen missile and a little bit more normally aspired/diesel powerflow. paper
