Considering BT or sky currently
Cheers

Never had BT. Have currently got Sky and Virgin.

Sky for TV and Virgin for phone, TV, and broadband.

Sky TV is preferred over Virgin simply for the interface. We only have the basic V package and don't use it unless we really have to, which is not often. We just find the sky one more friendly and familiar. (deals are easier to come by also)

Virgin Broadband/phone work really well here and have had few problems with it. The customer service sucks of course, but then it does on them all so I wouldn't let that sway you too much either way.

Virgin Media here. Not sure what the standard virgin tv boxes are like but i really like the tivo box and the extra tuner come in handy.

I think it could be time to think about mobile download speeds, 3 for instance in Staines provide about 35mb speeds. Obviously depends where you live but check it out. I have just signed up to virgin and wish I knew about this other avenue before signing anything.

Sky fibre here and have been for over a year. No issues and no throttling of speeds, ever.

I've been sent this today so it might be worth bearing in mind if you intend to do any of the below

Can't fault Virgin Media. Had the broadband for years and added TiVo about 18 months ago. Never had an issue with either.

Broadband is more than fast enough and the TiVo is simple to use and reliable. If you're in a cable area then you don't need to have a phone line (or pay line rental for one) if you don't want it.

Im with Virgin media and would not recomend them to be honest!
I signed a contract promising me
Netflix
unlimited phone
medium tv
30meg internet

on day of installation 13th December phone did not work "cant get back to fix it until next month as cable in the street is damaged"
Ok no probs as long as im not paying for it! was told i would have to pay more if they did not bill me for phone! cheek

Have lost my internet service 4 times now even using the excuse of the weather (im sure they use the weather as a selling point due to problems with sky and they are not effected by it?)

My bill was wrong they were charging me the full amount! (not the 6 month introductory rate)

I never got Netflix and had to complain 3 times to get it sorted

Tv anywhere only works if the device you want to use is connected to wifi and your tivo box is also connected to your hub and even then its overloaded and tells you to try later

bbc iplayer quite often buffers rang several times and they say there is no issue and to do a re-boot that makes no difference its basically over-subscribed and not enough bandwidth

Catch-up TV is only applicable to certain channels

My Tivo box Hard Drive is so noisy, even with added padded feet it is louder than the dialogue sometimes

Needless to say i am so happy with my service... yeah Right just 15 months to go until i can go elsewhere most likely Sky

The Virgin concept is very good but sadly its been very poorly delivered if they were to sort out all the things that you would expect to be seamless it may be a go-er

Use google to search on my comments its not just me

On a positive note they cocked up my contract and im paying £8 a month less than i should hehe

hope that gives some insight

Cheers

Done Virgin Media - good fibre optic broadband and TV but the price went up exponentially each year. No effort from Virgin to keep me as a customer....

Done Sky - rubbish broadband through the phone line and when my son was at home on his games console it was impossible to watch iPlayer. As above, when the initial offers work off it became prohibitively expensive.

Now on BT - I miss my Sky Sports but the broadband is Virgin standard and you get BT Sport for nothing; less than half the price of my Sky package and the BT box seems a lot more user-friendly. Only 2 weeks in, but I'm happy so far. I can get Sky Sport as an added extra but I only wanted Sky for the cricket so I will make do with Radio 5Live X.... always watched the cricket with the sound off and listened to Aggers, Blowers, etc.. cool

Got BT infinity... works well. Not got a TV package though, just Freeview.
