I run HEL brake hoses on my coop, neve had any problems with them but... I can see why they fail.
If you look on your standard front brake lines you can see that the hose will run parallel to the wheel arch at one point and where they meet there is a little plastic disk. This plastic disk keeps the hose away from the bodywork stopping them from rubbing. On my HEL hoses they were missing. I was savvy enough to make my own so that they didn't rub, this is the only reason I use them with any confidence.
I made them from some polyurethane suspension bushings from a mitsubishi, but they have rubber grommets wrapped round the tube then the bushings pushed over the end of the tube and over the grommet.
The braking improvement was not really noticeable to me but that's because I changed EVERYTHING at once, new disks, pads, calipers and hoses.
