Is anyone raising the octane of their fuel by adding a spalsh of thinners? Using thinners that contains no methanol should be ok for hoses etc and the thinners i used was 30% Toluene 30% Xylene (this is the good stuff) and 40% Acetone which helps fuel burn cleaner. When ive used it in the past (10% mix to fuel i.e 5 litres of thinners to 50 litres v-power) i can definitely tell the difference and the bonus is its cheaper than petrol at 25 quid for 25 litres.

Hi Phil, I used to use it on my Saab and was great, not tried it with the Fiat, does it make a difference? Paul.

No idea mate. Ran thinners in all of my Saabs too and my Scoob. It worked great in the Saabs because of the adaptive ECU and clever t5/t7 Ecu control systems. Not too clued up on Fiats........yet

Can you not just use pure Xylene instead of thinners

Can you not just use pure Xylene instead of thinners I suppose so but im guessing its not as readily available as thinners or as cheap. The acetone in thinners also makes the fuel burn more effciently ive read.

This just sounds like something that your dad used to do back in the day. I did a little reading after seeing this thread and I can't see why you'd bother. Just put 99ron in and modify it safely for more performance

99 with nothing added is all my Coupe needs . I use it, but I have read that it is 97 ron with an additive , so not a true 99 ron. Discuss?

I use it, but I have read that it is 97 ron with an additive , so not a true 99 ron. Discuss? Not sure what you mean by "true 99 RON". RON is the measure of how much compression the fuel can take before igniting, not a subjective measure of fuel quality. That's not to say all 99 RON fuels are the same, just that one shouldn't focus on RON when talking about quality between fuels.
