As i say it was my first RR session. But im a bit worried, im not all clued up on tuning and stuff.
But anyway the guy tells me everything is fine, and proceeds to say the BHP is 209 at the fly wheel. So at the wheels it would be less? am i right?

I thought it should be 220 as standard! I have a few mods such as: Hybrid turbo from barbz, gtec1 chip, powerflow 3" cat back. drilled holes in air box, uprated fuel pump, boost gauge.
The car itself is well maintained, always serviced.

i do have the graph if someone could host it for me.
Thanks for any help,
steve

Put it up on Photobucket or something Steve. Surely that setup would show, all things being equal, 260 bhp or so, depending on boost level ?

He says he has upped it to 1.3 bar! and says it is safe.
i did not think this was true for a gtec 1?

So you're running 1.3 bar through that setup and getting 209 bhp at the flywheel ? WTF ?

First thing was this a well known RR shop?

A gtech chip should really be run at 1.2 I think as thats what its fueling is based on. You should get your fuelling checked.

How do you control your boost?

However I am not reading that you have any extra cooling, so 1.3 is a definite no no, as you will lose power due to the increased heat. Personally I would turn the boost down a touch, take it to an respected RR and try again. And if funds allow, get extra cooling, an FMIC ideally, will cost about £500 fitted.

Different RR's can vary wildy, so first of all you need to find out if your car is bad or the RR was. As I say I would take it to an RR place that knows the coop, if you post where you live someone may recommend one. And go from there

Wouldn't the hybrid put out less heat at 1.3 bar than a standard tubby ?

Not based on Subas findings I don't think. But even so 1.3 with no extra cooling is high IMO, I don't even run mine at 1.3 with an FMIC on a hybrid.

Thanks jim0.
i went to bd engineering in sittingbourne.
He said he has done some coupes. and that my fuelling was alright. I control the boost by a bcv.
Alot of the work on my car has been carried out by torque italia, from the previous owner.
I have had it serviced by powerfiat in november time.

But I am not sure if that is the prob anyway, as at 1.3 those mods should be putting out 270 - 280

The gtech I am sure is only fuelled for 1.2 bar as std anyway isn't it.

Clearly something isn't right somewhere, so you need to start ticking things off the list once checked.

I'd change RR, turn down to 1.2 and start again.

Fair enough JimO - I'm still too scared to turn my boost up past 1.2 bar without a fuelling check.

Difficult to make out but there is about 25lb/ft difference between the 2 runs. This might be down to running inconsistant boost. I got a low bhp figure for the mods i had and it was due to not holding boost properlly.

Think i shall get it booked in with power engineering and see what they say.
When i dropped the car off i said it was at 1 bar, but i would like more boost if everything was safe, telling him the gtec1 allowed 1.2.
When i picked it up he says, i have set it at 1.3 not the 1.5 - 1.6 you wanted. i said i didn't.

[Thanks for the graph jim!]

I'm no expert on car dynos (i've done a thousand bike dynos) but seeing as the red graph is the power-curve, it's all over the bloody shop after midway.

Can't see the rpm, but anything that peaks like that and then runs rough towards the redline can't be healthy at all.

There's loads of chaps here who know far more than me, but I'm sure they'll agree.

LOL 1.6 that would be evil

My last RR I was spiking at 1.5 in the middle of the revs, this was returning something like 350 lb/ft, but I turned it down, way too scared for that

When driving, does it feel sluggish at all, can you here any noises like boost leaks or anything?

Power engineering are OK, see what they say

As a footnote, I used to use Power Engineering for the work on my Evo, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Friendly staff, no bullshit, and certainly know their stuff. Don't think they're coop specialists, but they'll give you a very honest appraisal of what your car should be doing.

No did not here anything. she just felt like a beast!
just not happy with 209 at the fly wheel!
what does that work out at the wheels? 160- 170?
I dont see how i can be losing power? especially with mods

Last compression test was done on 10-07-2003 as far as i can see, at 26,144. Now at 66,600 miles.
Ive just about had her a year, previous owner put the miles on :/ but it has been looked after well.

I shall get it done then.

I definitely say the rollers are the first thing to check, if he claims he knows coops but then mentioned 1.5 or 1.6 he clearly doesn't.

Maybe even try and and get a compression test in prior to it and a good mechanic to have a good look over for any leaks, loose hoses, etc.

Also, Craig my wife uses GHD straighteners you really are a stange one, do you know that
