I didn't know the HGT Bravo had a non-turbo Coupe engine. Is it exactly the same?

I believe it is Annie, probably some subtle differences but I think it's roughly the same.

Had a look through my collection of sales brochures and found a Norwegian one which I obtained in Norway in 2000. It lists the 2 litre 20v 147 engine as one of the 4 choices available there, including the 1.8 16v 113 engine which, I would assume, being similar to the one used in the Barchetta and the Coupe.

Knowing Fiat, I think the 20v engine would be the same basic engine as used in the Coupe.

Hgt was supplied with the VIS, basically the same engine as our Coupes, it's local to me so I'll keep an eye on this auction.

It is the same basic unit, and like the coupe you could have the car in non vis 147 trim. Then you got the 155 vis engined car replacing the 147 unit later in it's production run.

around 2001 I worked for a company where one of the three pool cars was the hgv (one of the ex-partners cars). Never having been anywhere near a coupe or having driven anything even remotely that fast, I remember it as simply awesome. We'd make up excuses for site visits just to take it out.

Not surprisingly the other 2 (fiesta and puma) weren't booked out nearly as much.

It was a HGT Bravo which lived on our estate in 1999 that first introduced me to the engine. It sounded great. We had a Bravo 1.6 (100 SX) at the time. Even that had had a good kick at 4,500rpm..... As did my Punto 1.2 75SX....

I have owned both the HGT, which carries our 'NA' engine

And the follow up Bravo, called the 155 20v which carries our VIS engine.

(And actually both flavours of Coupe with these engines too!)

And they are ace!

I often look for the Bravo now- but I didn't see that one.

A lot of gear for someone! Looks to have had some paint on the door or rear three quarter. Non standard air intake...

Mrs Alesi owned a yellow 155 HGT back in 1999 and loved it to bits. The 1998 cm3 engine indeed is similar to the Coupé 20v one.
If you sat behind the steering weel and look in the wing mirror you'd see a Coupé like shape.
Here's where that comes from

A mate had one of those - cost him just over £100 and ran fine for years! Made an awesome noise as you would expect.

I don't understand these wives who object to more cars. Or even worse, those who, when lovingly bought a Coupe, say they "can't drive it" and, could they have something else?!

Back in 2001 I worked for a rental car company in the South of England, delivering Fords, Hondas, and Renaults to customers in the home counties. We also had Fiats, but I never really took to the bravo/bravas we had, and the Focus 1.6 was superior to the 1.8 Bravas in every way.

Then we got a Marea 20v HLX on fleet. What a beast! What a noise. Everytime we dropped the car off we had I had to warn customers to be careful with their right foot. It was flippin thirsty though.

I loved the car that much that when it was sold on I tracked the exact vehicle down to a car supermarket in London. There it was glistening away in metallic dark blue... then was told someone had just bought it! I think it was about £8000 at 1 year old at the time and was a bargain. They had another one in red but it was the more basic model and so I didn't buy it. I still think of the blue car as the one that got away.

I used to have a Broom Yellow Bravo HGT155 sold in 2004 and a sad day for me as it was my last ever Fiat after owning 8 different Fiats before it frown. Fantastic sounding engine and quick too!!!

I keep my procrastination skills high looking for a suitable Coupe but on my travels, these two have popped up if anyone still fancies a Bravo with that lovely engine in it. Rarer than Rocking Horse you know what.
