Well, I've not been in here for a fair while. Life has had all kinds of upheavals over the last couple of years, which I may bore you all with at some point.....or maybe not, if you are lucky!

Anyway, the place I am currently gainfully employed has half the staff on hourly contracts, and half on salary, with various differences in terms and conditions. The management have decided they want to change this, so they are all the same - Which is fair enough.
This involves those paid weekly are being asked to go over to being paid monthly, for which they are not proposing to make any recompense.

There I a consultation going on over it etc, as per ACAS guidelines.

Should anyone decide they do not accept the changes to their contract, are the management allowed to just impose the alteration to the terms??

I came across a tribunal ruling vs The Post Office, where some workers had it imposed, and the PO were found to have been in breach of contract for effectively making unlawful deductions, but this was a few years ago.

Any thoughts?

It seems companies can do what they want frown I and quite a few others are paid weekly, whereas everyone else is paid monthly.

We had a letter around February stating there were proposals to change us to monthly pay starting from June and that there would be meetings with management to discuss this, etc.

No meetings were arranged with us and no discussions took place. We then received a letter in April stating the change would go ahead grr

We've been offered a loan which has to be paid back over 8 months, but that's it.

I'm dreading it - I struggle with finances week to week, so not looking forward to swapping over to monthly pay frown

Expecting you to get into debt to allow the company to save money is borderline immoral.

We are having a consultation period, but it seems to be planned to last 2 weeks, and 4 meetings

I am on the consultation committee and am being remarkably stroppy.
