Interesting day at Thruxton. Qualified 2nd behind Chris Snowdon’s Alfetta extended arch machine. Good first few laps of the race, trading the lead with Chris. Then, meeting a back marker in the chicane, Chris made an ill-advised dive into a gap that was never going to be open by the time he arrived and nerfed me along the side.

I gathered myself and caught him back up. Then, as seems to be a characteristic this year, the rain arrived. The transaxle Alfettas are much better than the Giulia in those conditions and I slipped back to 3rd. On a drying track, I put in the fastest lap on the final lap going 1.5s faster than the rest of the field but stayed in 3rd.

Damage isn’t too bad. Good practice for CSCC later in the year. Next races at Anglesey with CSCC.

Nice race, shame about the bodywork! Well done for the fastest lap.

Apologies for the nonsense intro screen on the video. Bloody YouTube! It was obviously with issues yesterday as it kept giving me a network issue - basically blaming my connection. After I’d ruled that out, it finally uploaded the video saying it would go public as soon as it had finished processing. Come the next morning, no sign of the video. So I uploaded it again (2 more gig of 4G data), only to be told it was a duplicate of a video already uploaded!!! So, in a rush, I added what I thought was an intro to different the video from the phantom. Clearly the rather shaky iMovie didn’t save my text.

Drive-by in the first 10s - sounds lovely and aggressive
