I have a highly modified LE, number 183, that has been left non running by me for the last 4 years.
I have been wondering whether to restore it or sell it on to someone else to put it back on the road.
When the car was last on the road, it was running OK, but the engine map needed a little more work as the idle was a little rough. It was producing about 440 Bhp and over 400 Ft/Lbs of torque. I have the printed power graphs for inspection along with masses of paperwork for all the modifications.Spec
Engine fully rebuilt with all new bearings by Ricky Neal, I can give any prospective buyer his number and you can call him to discuss the work he did for me.
All tolerances measured and checked.
Crankshaft lightened and balanced with all new upgraded bearings
Forged Arrow pistons, custom specification.
Forged Pauter rods.
All new internal engine bearings fitted, with upgraded parts rated to 500bhp where available.
Balance shaft removed.
Lightened and balanced fly wheel added
Cylinder head ported and gas flowed. All new valves and springs. New standard cams used.
Oil pump upgraded to run at much higher pressures and flow rates.
Oil filter remote mount with larger Ford filter to facilitate easy replacement and better filtration.
New custom stainless 3 inch tubular exhaust manifold
Straight through 3 inch exhaust system. This is a custom made unit specifically for the engine.
Gearbox cleaned and inspected. Oil ways enlarged to help oil flow.
Upgraded paddle clutch. Works well, much better than many others I had used.
All exhaust and turbo manifolds wrapped in heat resistant material to keep under bonnet
temperatures down, and improve turbo spool up.
New GT28 76 ball bearing turbo from ATP turbo's in California. This is awesome!
Electronic boost controller mounted in the dash where the ashtray is.
Omex 710 custom ECU with custom map.
New standard inlet manifold ported and flowed
New coil packs with custom heavy duty wiring and upgraded spark plugs
Larger injectors, all remapped by Jason English (TurboJ on the forum)
Higher performance fuel pump fitted to cope with the increased fuel demand.
New larger radiator fitted. New larger, custom electric cooling fan used.
New alloy EVO style front mount intercooler fitted.
Aquamist water & methanol injection system with pillar mounted DDS3 monitor fitted-
tank from tipo used for water & methanol
All hoses replaced, many with hard aluminium ones.
High flow air filter.
Upgraded Bilstein shocks, with standard springs.
All bushes replaced all round with upgraded nylon ones.
Brake calipers replaced with new standard reconditioned ones.
All rubber brake hoses changed to stainless steel braided-
except one where the nut seized when trying to change it.
Brake disks replaced for upgraded grooved and drilled ones all round, but are now rusted to hell.
The pads were Pagid yellows all round.
Standard refurbished alloys.
Upgraded HID lights.
The problems that took the car off the road are;
1) The gear lever linkage was very stiff. I bought new a new housing and fitted that, but the problem was more at the gear box end, the linkage needs taking apart and greasing up then reassembling.
2) When changing the rear brake calliper and fitting the new braided hose, the nuts on the metal brake pipes had seized and rounded. I did not have the necessary tools and skill to cut the metal brake pipes and refit new sections.
Since the car has been off the road, it has been covered, but the brake discs are rusted now.
Cosmetically, the car is a bit scruffy. The lacquer has cracked and is coming off on several panels, so it needs a respray. The car is Vinci grey. Also, the left hand side of the front LE Lips are broken and need replacing, but I have a new fibre glass set to be fitted.
The car has only done around 75k miles, and has no rust or other problems that I am aware of.
So, the question is how much would it cost the get the car back to decent running condition. I'm not sure, but this would be a great project for someone to restore. I'd love to see i running again, but I just don't have the time and energy to do it myself.
I have a Mitsubishi L200 and can hire a car trailer to transport the car to you if someone needs it transported, providing the buyer is willing o pay the hire and fuel costs.
