Shoot out between the GTV and Coupe. Thank goodness they don't make a direct reference to the coupe being a GT as we all know it's not wink laugh

The coupe wins by a whisker driving

And thanks to Gavin Bushby for the photoshoot smile

Fiat faults possibly greater than the Alfas but you could get more pasta in the boot of the Fiat - good enough for me laugh

Nah - edgy styling, 5 cyl engine , niche car for Fiat - just overall more interesting.

I assume this is the 20vt and V6? The 2.0 and N/A would be very similar in terms of performance. Certainly the coop is the easier to live far more practical, a reasonable boot, back seats where you can retain your legs, better fuel consumption etc. It also feels better 'put together' my Alfa had lots of dodgy rattly bits; windows, doors, aerials, rear demister etc.
But the V6 was an amazing motor in such a small car, fantastic torque and I felt it handled better (particularly at speed, probably the spoiler) although the weight of the engine was noticeable when turning.

If I had to keep one it would be the Coupe as for me it just does everything I want and I've had it 16 years; that said my GTV has far better build quality and a more premium feel, oodles of torque in any gear, smoother power delivery without the on/off turbo, seems to handle a lot better (Q2, polybushed and GTA clutch and flywheel) although both models share the Tipo Due floorplan Alfa strengthened it far more than Fiat; choosing between the V6 and 5 cylinder soundtracks is difficult because they are both amazing....with none of the horrid false modern car pop bang and wheezes.

Living with both the coupe is much more practical,
I have children and the ride is noticeable in comfort for them between the GTV and coupe, plus you can fit a buggy in the boot too but honestly these cars are always to be a 2nd or even 3rd car for the best part.
Both are very exciting to drive, as submariner mentions the on /off throttle response /power is great in the v6.
Both turn heads my V6 is a little asbo with a wizard cat back system but the sound is increadible 😅🇮🇹
I have yet to own an LE or a plus and would choose one over a standard v6 but I think in standard trim the GTV wins as the build quality is better.
I think the seats in the Le and plus really set the coupe off and maybe how they should have all been like as for example the GTV cup didn’t really change seats dramatically yet being a limited run commands big money 10-15 k vs 3-7k
I know for sure I get brownie points when I’m in the coupe with the kids as the GTV just doesn’t cut it in that department. Just as well be driving a spider 2 seater 😂

Great article despite not mentioning the fact that the FC is of course also a GT!

Just read it free to download on internet.

Good article did not realise it was the GTV TS and Fiat 20v. Good comparison, the GTV seemed to be a rather leggy 125K with a list of fails and then advisories from it's last MoT so not well cared for. The Coupe looked well looked after on 62K.
