I saw this article, and of course the Coop isn't in there.

https://www.autocar.co.uk/slideshow/groundbreakers-cars-did-it-first-1

Which is probably more to do with the fact that it's not a well known car. Having said that, Autocar usually seem quite familiar with the Coop. confused

So is there anything that the Coop was the first one to do?

Off the top of my head, I suppose you could say styling-wise it was the first (and I think only one) to have arse shaped headlights? confused laugh

The first to have it's owners club named after a well known obscenity and a clothing manufacturer?

Only car referred to by reference to a chicken shed?

First car not to have a proper name or number?

First car to be styled by a famous Italian styling house, but only on the inside?

Wasn't the 20VT the fastest FWD car of it's time?

Doorhandles hidden? Later used by alfa 156 for rear doors, when I went to the dealer they told me this was unique and then I showed them my coupe. Although must say the 156 had this gig to look like a coupe.

It was commonly known and believed the head light design was based on Mr B's wifes backside, however the posters we received in 2014 on the top of the Ligotto for the 20th anniversary were designed and printed by Mr B showing a lady with 4x breasts, I have a signed copy here in the office along with a second poster showing a pair of ladies wearing dresses with slashes.

Not necessary. I've seen 'em and can confirm that they are in fact on Joe's wall. Complete for count and slashes.

With apologises to Frank Zappa, all roads lead to Joe's Garage! Maybe the Coop is the first to have it's own pilgrimage to the shrine of the 4 breasted lady?

To combine two recent threads; it gives us more things to get annoyed about/hate than any other?

I think the 1980's Audi Quattro got there before.
Volvo 850 T5 similar era to the Coupe

Not sure who was the first though.

I seem to recall it was the first production car to have 220bhp through the front wheels only

a) Its innovative winter anti-theft method - you can't open the doors on cold days, even if you have the keys
b) Its patented rear lid design for smoothly dumping snow in the boot - just in case you need it.
c) Its concept that sun visors should be aesthetically pleasing rather than functional

Following on from the excellent point a) above, even if you have the keys and get the door open there is always the possible frozen handbrake, or alternatively no handbrake depending on it's mood.

It's also the first car with nowhere to balance a cup of tea whilst trying to workout how to get it going.

Point c) also applies to the mirrors, headlights, slashes, bodywork er most of it come to think of it!

Actually, a long time ago, I think someone on the forum said that the Coop was the first car to incorporate/base it's design on, a certain style of art. confused
