So what did the long suffering Mrs M get for me yesterday - a rolex? Nah. Tasteful go faster stripes for the coupe? Nope. Twas a Roy Cross original master tracing for one of the Airfix kits back in the day! Well chuffed and surprised woohoo You can take the man out of the 70s but can't take the 70s out of the man laugh

Anyone else get anything unexpected?

I had to Google that, G_Man, but it looks like a really brilliant, thoughtful gift!

I got a rather unusual gift from MrsC that I think I'm going to require the help of the FCCUK brains trust to get the best from...

Radio, radio

I would love to turn it into a retro Smart home controller - I love the Cold War aesthetic. But, you know, I may not be the ideal person for this...

I'm guessing Barnacle knows pretty much what's inside it!

And he's probably not too far from where it could have conceivably been used wink

Unexpected from eldest lad (but therefore all the more appreciated) was this....

I did, too, but, yes, for us kids of a certain age, that’s a fab gift. Was looking at the drawing of the Dornier and was surprised to see a Lysander in the same image.

My kids bought me a bottle of Monkey 47 gin and a case of 1723 tonic. And Charlie bought me a Giulia T-shirt to match my race car.

What no bottles?

It's been buggered around with; that headphone connection is completely wrong, and I'm not sure I believe the RF connector either.

But you can be reassured that if it does work it will be highly illegal to use it without the appropriate license!

At the risk of hijacking this thread, Neil, I have absolutely zero intention of operating this unit for its intended purpose - whether buggered with or not! No big old valves, but a lot of heavy wire and components that I'm going to (carefully) rip out and throw away - unless there's a better alternative.
I'm interested in the shell, the switches/dials, etc and turning it into something a bit more modern. Ideas welcome!
Hijack over. Sorry G_Man!
