Hi everyone,
I’ve been looking at getting a Coupe for a little while now and the general advice I’ve been given was ‘buy the best you can’.
So of course, I’ve done the opposite and bought a complete project 20VT!

It’s 2 hours away so I have never seen it in person and will likely be arriving on my driveway next week.
In summary, the good points are 66,000 miles and 2 owners, and apparently very solid underneath.
The bad points are it’s been off the road for a decade, has no MOT and needs a full respray!

I’m sure i’ll be asking for plenty of advice as I go along. I’m also not far from FCSS so I suspect i’ll be in touch with them when I run out of time/patience/skill (most likely all 3, very quickly).

First question, is there any Haynes-esque manuals for Coupes?

Congratulations on your purchase cool

Immediate questions are:

Do you intend to change the belts yourself as it will need this doing?

Has it been garaged over the 10 years and are you able to work on it under cover?

Have you got welding skills?

No Haynes manual to my knowledge, but the workshop manual is available to members here...

Do start a new thread in the Coupé Projects section and keep us up-to-date with progress, only you will contribute to it so start a Discussion thread separately for others to comment on smile

Thanks!

Belts i’ll get done by an expert, once I’ve got it through an MOT.
Welding skills are zero but I have a couple of mates who are very good. I’m hoping I won’t need them however!

Thanks for the manual link, I’ll get membership sorted out ASAP.

Welcome B3nson!

I almost purchased one in that colour they do look nice! Good luck and FCSS do a guard to protect your belts from damage, so well worth asking about that when you go there smile

Welcome to the forum B3nson, nice looking car you've got there.

Really low miles is a huge plus these days, so you're on a winner. For a Haynes manual type thing, FCSS (country cruising) and Neil (barnacle) have released one of these, which is good.

Best thing you can do, especially as it's been sat so long is get a proper inspection from a specialist.

Welcome B3nson, the coupe looks really clean example. Hope you enjoy learning more about the oily bits after and most of all driving it smile
