I've seen that or something similar on my car. Not sure where, but it may have been behind the plastic bumpers as part of the body structure

Looks like an iron age toaster!

If that belongs on your coop you may have a problem. I always end up with a collection of washers and things at the end of a job but nothing that big.

It reminds me of a bump stops for the back of a truck bumper, allows a soft landing against a loading bay.
