Maybe, after 11 years of slow work and standing its time to write few word about my first car - Tipo 2.8 8V

I will use some info and shots some of you can noticed on Guy Croft forum...

Its a 1992 Fiat Tipo 2.0 (8V) GT. , in our family is from 1999 and I have it from 2005/6

during last eleven years because of engine failure (overheated oil, no oil pressure, ran con rod bearing no. 4 cyl.) it stands and I´m modifing it according to my expectations - how the "RIGHT" Tipo should look like!

I am use it only during the months without snow, because my tipo is "RUST FREE" instead of another cars in czech
wich experienced czech winter, salted roads etc...

This tipo is my next passion - maybe greater than Coupe!
Because I spend more time with it when traveling to work.

Some specifications:

TOP CLASS edition:

interior:
- wine-colored leather
- AC (presently removed )
- in close future I want to make carbon fiber coating on the instrument board

- 300mm steering wheel Victor

exterior:
- without modifications, after long and patient search ( it took me ~4 years to get one)I´ve purchased original Sedicivalvole side skirts without damage!
- in preparation sedicivalvole heater mask
-red, sedicivalvole rear lights

suspension:
- Fiat Coupe 16vt Eibach lowering springs (-35mm) ,front springs cutted about 1 closing coil (next 12mm lowering), rear cut ~1/4 coil
- front shock absorbers: "hybrid" assembled from tipo 8v body and coupe 16v NA entrails (coupe has thicker rod)
- rear shock absorbers: fully standart Tipo 2l
- all the suspension built up from new parts

wheels:
- 6"x14" Still Auto Racing with 194/45/14 Toyo Proxes T1R tyres. ( ~12cm shorster circumference, so it has same effect as changing final drive ration from 3,545 to 3,8)
- under front wheels are 25mm hubcentric spacer, on rear axis 30mm

due to brakes converted to 7*15" wheels and 195/50/15 tyres..

Note: with this suspension and 14" wheels ,the lower point of the car lies only 7cm from off the earth, total lowering with these wheels and suspension is 70mm at front 60mm at rear

brakes:
fully standart - assembled from new (TRW rotors, ATE pads, hoses, pipes) and refubrished parts (standart calipers and 23,81mm bravo HGT main cylinder with booster)

fronts converted to 280mm rotors as sedicivalvole should have

engine (old 2.0 8v spec.):
- drilled standart airbox
- removed ~30mm restrictor from rubber hose before throtle body
- modified throtle body shaft for better flow, removed throttle body warming
- raised fuel pressure (3.4bar)
- removed EGR system and fuel vapours recirculation
- Modified Tipo 16v 107 kW headers
- 55mm pipe with one straight-trought silencer "Ulter Sport" with 70mm stainless steel tip

future plans ( in 2010:) )- After I receive the new GC book I would like to fully refubrish and slightly modify my engine.
I want to make following modifications:

- remove balancing shafts
- fully balance and lighter bottom end (pistons from 1600 DOHC Tipo)
- lighter flywheel
- fully prep. head with std. cams or some ultimate road/Rallye
mapable ECU RP Lab
- target ~ 150BHP

in this summer I´ve refubrished underbody coating and coating on some suspension parts

pictures and further modification performed in recent years will follow:

regarding to engine..

plans in early time after engine failure were to modify current 2.0 8V engine with some headwork, pistons from 1.6, and some camshafts.... to get around 150-160bhp...

however - when collecting spare parts I was more succesfull to collect six - 16v engine coming from various cars (Coupe 16v, Thema VIS, Tipo 16v 107kW) so I decided to convert my engine to 16V together with rest of the car and this will give me better start point in the chase for more power.

During slow rebuild I used the best parts I could.. so here is part list from which my engine comes from:

block: stock 2.0 8V , without oil sprays, and with removed balance shafts, lowered by 3mm
crank: 107kW - has better oil system than 102kW or 8V (crossdrilled)
rods: lightened and shotpeened stock 16V, ARP 2000 bolts
pistons: machined 107kW flat top pistons (Thema and 102kW has slight bowl), to get CR ~10.9:1, stock weght 430g, after my mod 375g
piston pins: Lightened Wiseco (80g vs. 120g stock)
camshafts: intake 107kW, exhaust 102kW, timed to 106/107deg
intake manifold: welded thema VIS
clutch: OMP paddle
Flywheel: machined to low 4kgs
timingbelt pulley: modified alfa twinspark (crank+cams)
cambelt: Tipo Turbodiesel (22mm width)
head: stock 107kW, ported, enlarged channels, 5 angle valve seats
headers: coupe 16V, englarged secondaries to 50mm/300mm long, tailpipe 60mm
aluminium engine mount from coupe turbo + oil cooler
Throttle body - modified coupe 16V for more flow, Have to select this due to throttle linkage

in the engine is about 10kgs less rotating/moving material, all modified parts are mostly designed and/or even machined by me, instead of head

estimated power is around 170-180bhp after fuelling check/adjustment,

as ECU I plan to use coupe 102kW with Flea chip (which I have available from trials and errors with coupe smile )and adjustable FPR to fine tune AFR at WOT...

how it begans..:

here is my CAD model of top of the piston to get idea how much CR I will get by machining pockets and dome on it...

the reason why I fit the engine to the car was also, that I need mule for exhaust manifold build for my coupe (see separate thread:))

here is first crnaking to prime the oil - 3.5 bar oil pressure just during cranking with starter motor is promising..:)
