I have a 1999 20v NA in Rosso, with 15" turbo style wheels. ( On when I bought it )
The black paint is peeling off the calipers.

What colour would they have been originally.

Would anyone object if I had them painted red,
to go with my eyes !

If they are 15" wheels then they are probably VIS wheels (Speedline) which are original to the car.

The turbo wheels are 16" at least.

Brake calipers (cast iron Bendix/Lucas front, alloy rear) would have been zinc plated from factory so someone has painted them black. Mine were refurbished recently and are painted silver and looks good IMO.

Can you post up a photo? - I'm intrigued to see nerd

Photo as requested.

I doubt that they are original

Ah ok. I'd assumed that your car was a VIS being a 1999 model (mine is a 99 VIS). Does it have the plastic engine cover?

Anyway, those are VIS wheels, so someone must have swapped them - which surprises me, because if I was to swap out standard NA wheels, I'd use the 20VT alloys which are bigger and fit better in the arches. Unless someone can correct me if they are not a straight swap?

As you can see from my pic, caliper clearance is very tight (about 3-5mm) on the 15" alloy, so bigger wheels do make sense. I've only kept my 15s because they are original and I'm a sucker for originality.
