Had a bit of a faff this year with the MOT as first time my HID upgrade rated a fail. quickly swapped over to halogens that I kept as spares but it seems whether you have HID or LED it will be a straight fail now as post 1986 build. For some reason pre 1986 cars would not be failed it seems crazy

What a pain, my 2x local MOT stations have never failed any of mine because they're fitted with HID's/LED's, I believe it's down to how the inspector is feeling on the day and whether he wants to follow the guidelines 100%.

It could also be that the MOT garage had a DVLA inspector round checking the garage at the time.

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Sadly, it is a categorical fail for either HID or LED replacements for halogen bulbs. Whether it triggers a fail or not is another question...
