As an example of how disorganised I am 4 of our cars need an Mot in Feb/Mar, I had to have an operation on Monday which was subsequently cancelled due to covid/trauma cases from the weekend. As consequence of the operation I'm not allowed in a sports car for at least 3mths, I could try arguing it's a GT not a sports car but don't think the surgeon will buy that!
Now I'm in post cancellation limbo I thought I'd crack on and see what could be done so our 20yr Nissan went through with no advisories and now the Coop has done the same! This is all the more remarkable because I've not been able to check anything prior to testing. This afternoon its the turn of our 'if only everything could be so (un)reliable as a Volkswagon' and tomorrow it's the Alfa's turn.

Bad luck on the health front respace and even worse not being allowed in the coop!

But at least some positives from the rest of your collection laugh

I daren't ask what number constitutes the total...

It's not as bad as it sounds, we've got 5 here and two with our elder two which are here p/t, now I mention it 7 does sound bad!
Anyway the VW has gone straight through as well, and yes I've bought a lottery ticket! Only the Alfa for now and then some respite until May.

Light came on as Alfa started saying check headlight bulb, not looking good for 4 out of 4!

Fingers crossed for 4/4. From my experience, Alfa's are no worse than fiats. Both need a bit of luck.

Well it was just the bulb which they did without mentioning so 4 out of 4. Things soon returned to normal though; when I picked up the VW the passenger window refused to close fully (goes nearly to the top and comes down again, sensor?), The service light came on and this morning couldn't open the coop door as iced up which meant driving the VW in freezing conditions with the window open some 30 miles to a GP appointment at the wrong practice!

Years ago I was using a company Talbot Alpine when, after a hard frost and snow all night, I had to leave for work at about 7 am. The door opened ok, but wouldn't stay shut afterwards. I ended up driving 25 miles to work with a rope lashed between the passenger and drivers' door armrests to hold the bloody thing closed.

I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Good Grief!

Took my coupe out for an early spring hibernation wake up shakedown yesterday - warm and dry I thought I would make the most of the opportunity. It was nice to feel her come back to life.

But a nagging feeling has been with me all morning.....I am sure I do recall her getting MOT'd late last year, just around the time she gets put away. Some shifting of paper later-and the truth lies bare.

MoT expired last year and was never re-tested!

Hands up- first time in my possession she has gone without a yearly ticket. Even in lockdown-she was mot'd as normal.

MOT duly booked for this week....at the first available session to save my blushes. Hopefully she will sail through as normal.

A sheepish MM

The only problem I have when the Coop is not used regularly, the brake discs rust up quite significantly. Even with spirited runs the rust is still there. After fitting my wheel to the Coop off I went, started first time, it’s been sitting n my garage since coming home from the Christmas meet/dinner.

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

Happy to report I am a redeemed man.

Coupe sailed through MOT - and no advisories.

I was allowed to go under her as they spotted the spring on the rear brake compensator appeared slack and had seen better days, So got to re-hook a new one on at some point.

Looking forward to giving her a good spring wash down /clean/polish when sun comes out. Roll on some adventures in her- use it or loose it in 2022 now we are all allowed out again.
Regards

MM

For the first time since March 2015, I got pass with an advisory yesterday. (minor defects)

Steering rack gaiter damaged or deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt. Offside [2.1.3 (g) (i)]

Nice one Pete, mine passed but only after a couple of replacement drop link bushes fitted along with Headlamp bulb swap due to HID’s being fitted. Another year of fun at least smile
