Hey Guys,

this is my first Post on the Forum so please excuse me if im not using the right Thread or Etiquette.

I'm currently on the edge of buying a 1998 16v 1.8l as my first car. The Car needs a new alternator as the old one is broken an a new rear muffler as that is rusted to oblivion. The rest of the Car is in mint condition though so im thinking about buying. Now to my Question. Where do i get these Parts and are there Brands that are better than others? Also would it even make sense to buy them pricewise?

Thanks for all answers!!
Malik

I can't answer on the exhaust side, but there must be someone who can refurbish the alternator for you without having a buy a new one, or is it properly broken? smile

Try Autodoc for the alternator. They have a lot of parts for the coupe and they have a German website. I use them a lot.
Not sure about the muffler though. Sorry.

The 1.8 engine came in quite a few different cars (more than the 20valve anyway). You might have to do some cut and shut but I'd think you'd be able to make use of parts from a 1st gen Bravo, Brava or Marea
