That's just a large pipe wrench, not a breaker bar, but it's about the same length as the breaker bar I have with half of a trolley jack handle over the end for extra leverage (great for wheel bearing bolts, subframe bolts, etc.)

For pipe wrench action you can't do better IMO than a set of these

Pipe wrench

I've got a chopped down exhaust centre section from a Mk2b Punto. When the flexi went and then the back box weld (OEM was one piece Cat back) I was left with a section of pipe 3/4 the length of the car and almost as thick as scaffolding. Several years later and it's going strong still

It's true, that photo was the second of two dismantlements; the first used a length of pipe over the wrench handle but the entire thing wouldn't fit into one screenshot laugh

That looked like Kurtis at Cutting Edge!

(and in a recent dismantle he had to take something round to his mate with a hydraulic spanner!)

I wonder why the singular pipe wrench is also known as 'a pair of Stilsons' (apart from the obvious name in the casting!)

Same reason as it's a pair of scissors I expect.

Or a pair of pants, trousers, etc. (except for those, it's best to have a pair or legs wink )

Scissors, trousers, both have two obvious bits (though both are singular in German). But the Stilsons are singularly singular. Odd.

Another cracker from Kurtis

Neil, have you seen what he's had to do to the Franna?

Incidentally I haven't caught up with the hydraulic spanner, unless it's from over 2 years ago frown
