Peeps - anyone ever taken such a policy out and if so with whom please? Been on a comparison site specifically for this but unable to get a quote for some reason confused And before anyone suggests 3PFaT - it's not the same as it's for cars still on the road.

Alan, I believe both Hagerty and Lancaster offer this cover, though I have never bothered.

I just keep them insured for the road all the time even when they aren't taxed and not being used.

My 2 cost about £300 a year for agreed value insurance on both cars.

16VT and X1/9 1500

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

I'm in the same boat as Pete with mine,

Its always insured, and taxed. I know some point out its "dead" money when its usually laid up all winter...but just in case this global warming ever comes true- and it actually stops raining this summer - i like the freedom of knowing its ready to go legally when needed.

Of course......renewal time is just around the corner with hagerty. And I've seen some horror stories already with people having double+ increases in their insurance.

So Hagerty have their work cut out this time.

Regards

Similar thing here in France.

Mine is insured fully comp all year round, but during the winter if it is going to stay in it's garage for a period (usually a month each time), I just have to let the insurance company know and the premium is reduced by 50% simply for not driving it. If I want to take it out any time then likewise a quick call and I'm good to go!

Mind you, the difference is that here, all vehicles must be insured at all times, even if you are not using them!

Aye, I’m insured all year round. Insurance cost up here £200 including breakdown more than happy with that. Over most of the winter the beastie is locked up in my garage.

I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

First post in a few years as I've been busy with other life things - sadly not Coupe related and therefore mine has been SORN'd since the pandemic started.

It's worth giving Adrian Flux a call - I've got a laid up policy with them and for this year it was £97 all in (i.e. including their charges) so it's quite a bit less than others are quoting (albeit obviously location, no claims and so on will impact what price individuals will get)

Thanks all and srm6 for your thoughts.

Yeah I understand keeping full insurance if you have it off the road for a few months but kept on your drive / garage. Storage elsewhere appears to be an issue though as I'm storing the coupe in a barn owned by a local friendly farmer. There's security but I think the issue is it's not a recognised facility so cover is difficult. May take a gamble and not bother as it's a discreet location along a private road, restricted access etc.
