Hi all,
I'm hoping some of you may have experience (hopefully not first hand) of a dilemma I currently have.
My daily driver for the last few years has been an XF-R and, given the performance, the running costs have been really quite a pleasant surprise. That run has sadly come to a shuddering halt however....
It's with a garage now and needs work of about £7k in total to fix various issues - notably the engine (it still runs but has a "ticking" noise that's coming from somewhere inside the engine). Given the value of the car (about the same on a good day) it probably isn't worth repairing, but obviously the car is still worth "something" - especially to somebody who has the space and ability to do the strip down of the engine themselves. Alternatively, the interior (very good condition), alloys, etc. should be worth a fair bit to a dismantlers but I've no experience of how to go about working out how much I could realistically get from either option - or indeed how to find someone who would want to buy it?
Has anyone got any advice they could offer please?
Thanks in advance. Simon

If it was me - I'd contact the Jag Owners Club for advice as someone may offer an acceptable deal for taking away and stripping.

But maybe there isn't anyone filling that gap between crushing and selling fully working used cars? The yards will strip them, if they can sell parts quickly. You have to remember they'll have to pay someone to collect, a truck, then there's the yard plus cost of storage. So say the interior might fetch 1k. Wheels 500 or so. Well how much profit could they actually make if they paid you more than a few hundred quid? I'd get on Ebay, Facebook market etc and spy out cars in similar condition to yours. See what they fetch and how quickly they shift. I think that'll show you if any specialists are scouring the classifieds. Otherwise I think you may need to chalk it up as bad luck
