I've finally bought a replacement for the Coupe... petrolheads look away now, it's a Fiat 500 electric! Before you complain that it can't go more than 180 miles without recharging, that the boot is tiny and the back seat equally inadequate, I already know. It's a city car for driving to the shops and it's brilliant. It has the family small Fiat feel, it's really nippy and the single-pedal driving mode feels totally intuitive. Plus it's really easy to park.

You are not alone wink.

Yesterday I replaced my daily driver with an electric Peugeot 208. The range is similar to the 500e but has more space in the back and it does just what I need for day to day use.

16VT and X1/9 1500

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.
I even unplugged my own.

Interesting (and not very wonderful) review of the US model here: https://youtu.be/N43mwATceXc

He really doesn't like it...

Hello Wink

Did you consider the new 600 ?

Val's 500L is now 13 years old with 116,000 miles and we are looking for a replacement.
The 500 is too small for us to do stuff. So the 600 is better.

I'm not into electric, so the hybrid petrol is better for us.

Paul

I took a look at the unflattering review - maybe the American market doesn't get small city cars. In the same way that you can't get a decent espresso in the land of 'bigger is better'. I agree that the suspension is on the side of over-sprung and underdamped. Just like all Fiats have been for as long as I can remember. By contrast I recently drove a hired VW Golf diesel and it felt mushy and wallowing. But the 500e doesn't handle badly at all - in town it feels like a go-kart, and the 0-30 acceleration is brisk. In fact I think it would out-drag a Coupe away from the lights, at least for the first few yards. Best of all is the one-pedal 'dodgem' driving mode - it's so friendly that it makes you wonder why all cars aren't this easy to drive.

I worked for Fiat from 99 to 2020 as a Sales Manager in a dealership in Wakefield and they really lost there way towards the end of us having them as a brand. Not seen there latest electric cars but im sure they have come along a long way. Im lucky enough to have a Kia EV9 as a company car and they are a fantastic car.

Looking back the early 2000's we had some great Fiats to sell from the Punto, Bravo, Multipla, Ulysse and 500 just a shame they came too reliant on the 500 towards the end.
