Just a quick update. Went into the local Fiat dealer in Leeds today to pick up my thermostat and asked re bonnets. They can supply at £525 ex vat but will offer a 15% discount. Waiting time 2 days - 2 months depended on what's in stock and demand.

I got a new bonnet about 9 months ago. Someone clipped the corner of my bumper, dented it and also scratched the bonnet. He admitted fault and the bodyshop quote decided I needed new bumper and bonnet. Took about a week to arrive and that was that.

Well, instead of a new bonnet the bodyshop managed to repair the old one and they've done an absolutely fantastic job! Don't know how they managed it as the bit where the metal folds over underneath was all mashed up as well. So, this Coupe lives to fight again!

And onwards to 200k \:D
It good to hear them getting to that mileage, especially since I've gone past 85k ;\)

Carlt is right 100%.

Fiat no longer have production and stock of the Coupe bonnets. Two stories I've heard are the panel company who produced them in Italy had gone bust, and/or the mould/panel press machine for the Coupe Bonnet is worn, so much so that it no longer produces a good bonnet...

Fiat UK will show they can sell at £500 less discounts, etc. But only when you go further into the purchase does it show "critical". Meaning the part is no longer available.

Coupeteile (in Germany) seem to be able to get hold of the occasional primered bonnet. Perhaps they have a few still lying around in Germany.

Mariusz at AutoDS is looking at producing Fibreglass, and/or carbo fibre. But the logistics are an issue with getting such a large part into the UK from Poland at a good shipment rate. The solution to this is for someone to be able to stock bonnets, say 10 at a time, so when needed in the UK they can be collected, or delivered at a cheaper price.

But, as Carlt said, Fiat will not be able to get a bonnet to you. \:\(

Thank You.

I think people neglect to remember i do repair rather a few, not to mention the one or two a week we break, insurance companies are not buying bonnets off me faster than i can remove them for the fun of it.

Yes the odd ones do appear, there usually damaged en-route and rejected by dealers.

I think the official tail is the later bonnets dont fit as there moulded wrong and are wider than the car, so need a bit of alteration prior to paint, so fiat complained and it put the maker who had nothing to do with fiat out of business.

As i say you can get the odd one, i did, two weeks back, but i spent more time repairing it than i would have a used one, and judging by the amount of blistering it had been around a few people.
