StuP Enjoying the ride Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 812 Sussex	The standard front and backs are 6.5 inch, although you could probably make an adaptor plate to 'convert' your 5.25s to fit the 6.5inch speaker holes. There is a picture of the rear door with cards off somewhere on the forum, try a search, that will give you an idea of what sort of space there is in the back panels

However you will gain a fantastic improvement in sound by investing in a 4 channel amp, it realy ups the quality of the fronts and rears. Most if not all head units boast power outputs measured as Max power. So when they state 4x50wats this is the max pawer and the reality is more like 4x20w. Even a basic 4 channel amp rated as 4x50 will put out nearer 4x100w max. There just is not the room or the cooling available in a HU to be able to output that much power. JOhn JOhn

I'd like to have one under the passenger seat, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of space under there, and also a little worried that it wouldn't be ideal for the heat to escape from under there.

As per this pic: Boot I have tidied the wires up now too That way you can run all the wires behine the boot lining. It is very easy to mount with bolts as the rear seat swings forward in the same manner as the ski hatch, one 2 bolts are undone. The only minor pain is routing all the wires. Remember to route the power cables well away from Phono and speaker wires or you will have to do the job twice to get rid of ignition whine JOhn

Sorry for the hijack, but does the whole of upright of the back seat fall forward, how does that happen, you should have seen the trouble I had getting my luggage net in, I forced my arm down the seat back through the hatch and had my nut taped into a spanner trying to line up on the bolt - a flippin' knightmare

You just pull the boot lining from the top and there are 2 or 3 8mm bolts. Undo these and the inside the cars the seat just fall forward. Plenty of access to fit the nets too JOhn

Paul Paul I ran new cables to all the speakers from the amp, using good quality cable, which is well worth its cost. I ran a cable from the boot to the end of the dash where my crossover is housed. This went under the carpet along the side of the door. Running the cable to the door could not have been easier. There is no connector to drill, the coupe was relativly low production so the door wiring just runs through the rubber corrugated hose with no connectors to be seen. To route the wires , pull back the carpet in the foot well to reveal the exit point for all the wires leading to the door. Then just unclip the rubber corrugated pipe that links between the door at both ends and feed the wire out of the A pillar until it emerges in the door shut. Then route this through the rubber corrugated piping and then into the door, if you are clever you can route to the speakers without removing the door card even Now replace the carpet, clip the rubber hose back in place and marvel at your work with a nice drop of Chianti and some fava beans. I then presented the amplifier up to the metal bulk head and made the 4 holes and also a hole for the wiring to go through. I then drilled the wholes out and placed 4 long bolts through the hole and secured them with a washer and nut on the boot side of the bulk head. I could then put the seat back in its normal position and secure. Now back on the boot side, oncec you have then made holes in the right place in the boot lining, and an inch long cut for the wires to exit, I just slid the amplifier over the bolts and then secured with another nut and washer. I then trimmed the excess bolts with a dremmel type tool. You could use the same procedure to mound a bit of wood and them mount the amp to that. Hope that is clear John
