Seeing thoes pictures bring back some bad memories when i had a crash in a evo as a passenger, i kinda walked away with a broken neck but my mate was'nt so lucky as he died a few hours later in hospital, makes you think how easy it is to have a bump .

too right, i keep thinking "what if?" if i'd hit the post head on, or drivers side i dread to think... was lucky that the car span around a full 180 before impact

the farmer who's field i ended up in said theres been 7 fatalities in 16 years since he's been there, it sure does give you a reality check

Woowwww, that looks nasty. Glad your ok.

Suppose it could have caught fire quite easily. Heavy impact from the rear etc and split the tank. Your a very lucky chap.

VERY glad to hear you're OK. It could easily have been a very different story posted on here if you hit that pole at a different angle - doesn't bear thinking about.

Could easily have been any of us. Take it easy y'all.

**TURNS BOOST DOWN FOR THE DAY**

You are a lucky man my friend. Don't worry about the car, as long as you're ok it doesn't matter.

Glad to hear you're okay, that's a lucky escape! \:o as I've said before, the coupe appears to hold up well in crashes. Well it crumples like a soggy cardboard box, absorbing the impact well whilst protecting the occupants. Good on you Fiat!

Holy Moly \:o as others have said glad you escaped unharmed,but..... wait till you get the bill for that telegraph pole \:o say it was already like that when you found it \:P

Also, after watching those vids of the recovery firm, especially the fork truck one, did you ask them to be especially carefull \:D

Oh Dear \:s

It really is strange, somebody could have a very similar crash at a far slower speed and probably not walk away. Very lucky.

Glad to see you're alright. \:\)

Well - new developments

I've just spoken to the farmer whose hedge i ended up in, and he said an hour after i left there was another biggie - woman hit another telegraph pole and was taken to hospital. \:s

they've now put sand down on the road, he thinks there was a diesel spill, which makes sense as to why the back end suddenly stepped out

scary

LOL. Did everything happen in an instant or slow motion?

Be prepared to possibly relive the accident as you try and sleep at night, wondering if you could have done anything different. At least, that's what I experienced, but I could just have an over-active imagination.

Have you thought about keeping part of the car as a goodluck charm? \:\)

Echo the others on here saying glad you're ok.

Nice to see the airbags deployed ok then \:\) I bet the noise was horrific. Whenever I've had a bump, it's always the noise thats the most scary thing.

You can always get another LE but your family can't get another Will B. Thank your god, store the story up for the grandkids and move on.

Glad to hear your ok Will,

sounds really similar to a big crash I had a few years ago. Driving down a national speed limit road at 60/70 I`d been down 1000`s of times (inc at higher speeds) back decided to step out for no reason and ended up upside down and wrote the car off, but thankfully walked out without a scratch \:o

Which is why I will probably never buy a small car that won`t provide good protection in an accident.

Paul

Wow you were very lucky!! The coupe is definitely very strong. I wrote off my LE (vinci grey) 18 months ago. I also hit a post, see HERE

Again if you need any help with insurance let me know. I was offered 4k and got it increased to 6K.

makes you think - life is very precious!!

Thanks

Dan

Thanks everyone for their thoughts, its been a very sobering day for me.

I'd love to get another coupe, can't think of any other car i'd want - all depends on the insurance payout though. I'll keep everybody updated. The engineer has been today so hopefully it'll be a quick respose, i'm insured with Ensign if anyones any experience with them?

Anyway, thanks again everyone \:\)

Yes a very lucky escape for you there!
Will be worth getting written statements from farmer about other accident & any more evidence about the diesel spill for your claim.

Peter.

Ask the insurer if there's any chance of buying it.

I wouldn't mind it. Ill give you a rather tasty drink ontop. ;\)

i did phone them to tell the insurers about the spill - what difference will it make in terms of a claim?

Lottery tomorrow night, maybe?!
