I'm going to get a 4 channel amp to run the (newly replaced) 4 door speakers, but need to know where is best to route all the cable for the install. The amp will go in the boot, so I guess I need to get the power, and the inputs from the head unit to the amp, and then cable for each speaker to the doors. I'm also under the impression I need to keep the power cabling away from any speaker cabling.

Has anyone any ideas of where I would be best off running all the cable? Also, how exactly would I get the power feed?

Thanks for any help

Stu

I took the passenger and lower rear seat out, not always nessesary but makes instal easier IMHO.

I then routed the amp power direct from the battery and down the nearside of the car along the side of the car and then under the rear seat and made a hole through the boot bulkhead.

I then ran three sets of phono (line out) leads (front rear and sub). You may not be using all three sets but it saves so much time later if you do want to instal a sub.

I then routed the front drivers side speaker wire down that side of the car and the passenger one under the carpet on the passenger side but away from the power and phono leads. These again went under the rear seat and through another hole made in the bulkhead.

Then BEFORE you refit the seats and carpets connect everything up and run the stereo with the engine running and check for ignition whine.

Here are the pics for the amp wire route:-

Connect to battery
Route through the engine bay gromett
Exit from engine bay and into car A pillar (note the top bolts aof wing need to be removed to gain access)
Entry point into the car, carpet need to be pulled back to see this hole.

Good luck

Superb reply Bockers, thanks for that.

Would I need to keep the power and the phono cabling separate from each other?
How did you get the carpet up, mine seems to be fairly stuck down on 1st look?

Keep the power separate from everything else, you can get away with speaker and phono cables together IIRC.

One you remove the door rubber (the carpet is stuck with tape under the rubber, you will see what I mean with the rubber removed) the carpet comes up quite easily and goes down smartly too.

Cool, thanks for all the info Bockers, makes it a lot nicer when you have a clear picture in your head of what you're doing!
