I got a similar great quote but it provisional on me having owned the car (or similar) for a year and been at the same address. Failed on both counts.

I started off with Adrian Flux, who came back with something in £1,400 range.
Admiral managed £575
Greenlight didn't even give me a quote - they just said they couldn't get close to the Admiral quote.
Elephant (my current insurers) came in at £555.
Noel Dazely (nice people) are currently in the lead at £524.
I might give Bell a go, I suppose. Nothing to lose.
Dear monos, a secret truth.

Manchester is a notoriously bad area for car insurance dude. Personally i found Bell to be the best for me but my insurance is on the wrong side of £1k.

had a 16v and was insured with sainsburys then upgraded to a 20vt got a good quote from sainburys £700 then i mentioned ow it has a dump valve and induction kit and they voided my insurance!! had to shop around all comming in at £1400! greenlight £690 with mods! thats brill! 1 concerning issue with grrenlight when reading the small print your ONLY insured for theft if your car is stolen from your LOCKED garage between certain times which i think is pap! Im not sure if most other insurers do this?

Surely not if you have told them it will be parked on the road or a driveway?

Are Privilege still doing the 'guarantee to beat your lowest quote if you have 4 years+ NCB'? That's who I went with.

Just got my renewal from Liverpool Victoria, at £701. It has always been pretty competitve as I'm a csma member. Anyway inspired by the forums I've had a shop around.
Admiral came out cheapest at £342 for a standard 20V turbo!!, with Elephant not far behind. That's less than half price, for exactly the same cover - Admiral here I come.
Either I'm getting old rapidly (37) or the insurance market is getting more competive. Oh, and make sure you include wives on the insurance, as it makes for a cheaper quote.
Good to be back on the forum, its difficult to imagine running a coupe without it!

If you live in Mancester, give Admiral a try - they were £300 cheaper than anyone else for me (Admiral own Elephant and Bell Direct), but still paying £850 - 29, std car (well, nearly) 6+ years NCB and owned the car 4 years....
It is hard to understand how a cemetery can raise burial rates and blame it on the cost of living

Greenlight have been best for me this year. Just under £600 for my 20V Turbo and it's very light mods.

Yeah Greenlight are competitive on standard 20VT's but I think unbeatable on modified ones - they just dont seem to care much... where as people like Elephant and the likes run a mile if you have a chip and really pile on the premium for things like exahusts and air filters!!

I live in Manchester area and pay £700 fully comp 3 points fncd with privilage. Strange because they refused to offer me car insurance on my old 540 less than 2 months previous.. I think with any of these insurer's they are all underwritten by one or two copanies and for tax reasons tend to push people in the direction of the "underperforming" group with prices, always best to ring a few just to see which is the flavour of the month....
