We could meet at Duthie Park, sometime in the morning.. then drive out to Ballater/Braemar? (About 60 miles) might be a bit far but good scenery etc and we could stop at aboyne/ballater etc along the way or just stop and come back into town..

Theres also MattB's suggestion of going over the cairn which has some stunning views and a great Picture Stop at the top Some Pics here and here!

Then back into town I guess..

Heres a map to give you an idea (this is provided for Bobbs and Scoobys benefit, Im not teaching the scottish lot how to suck eggs.. )

Im more than happy to participate in some alcholic beverage in the evenings too...

Please note: It is quite likely to be foggy at the top of the cairn thus rendering great views unavailble.

Pah, pessimist

On a serious note, used to drive that road every weekend for about 2 years (apart from when it was blocked with snow and very bad fog ) but in any case if your lucky it should be clear enough

OK, update on the current plan.

Scooby and Bobbs arrive in Aberdeen sometime Friday, get settled at Tartans, then out in to town for a drink Friday night (venue to be decided).

Saturday we organise a meet in the morning, then a drive out. Not suggestions where yet, so feel free to chip in.

Saturday night dinner at mine, anyone else who wants to join us need to let me know over the next couple of weeks so food can be arranged. So far confirmed I have,

Scooby + Bobbs
Tartan +1
Mattb
Me + Trish

With Si and Matty as possibles??

Sunday meet for huge Breakfast either prepared by Tartan, or local greasy spoon (Depends on numbers :-)) with possible run depending on condition (both drivers and roads)

At least I think that's the current plan, let me know.

Scooby, stuff going in the post for you later today.

Definetly will have to be local greasy spoon, I could cater for about 4 people max.....

Craig,

No, you guys just bring yourselves and some Beer, I'll take care of the rest. Those of you that are coming for food, can you PM me with any speciel food requirements (i.e. Veggie, don't like Mushrooms or whatever) Otherwise it's dog kebabs all round!

Bobbs, did you guys get the Map?

Just to give you an update... we're currently on the banks of Loch Ness (no Nessie spotted so far). Hoping to get to somewhere on the north coast around Elgin way tomorrow and onto Aberdeen as planned on Friday.
Weather is looking dodgy the next couple of days so all subject to change.

First time I've seen snow up past the bottom of the Coupés door.

The LE front makes an excellent snow plough much to the delight of all my neighbours - Until it grounds on snow

Main road up towards Inverness from Aberdeen is in pretty good shape today. If you get stuck near kintore give me a shout for free B&B

I noticed last night that the Zender bumper has the same effect, but there are some hard lumps of ice forming now.

How spooky - I'm up near aberdeen on these dates.
But I am going whisky tasting, so given the choice of freezing my bits off looking at coops, or warm and toasty next to an open fire sipping malts, you can hardly blame me, can you?
So - have a good 'un - if I see you I'll wave (I'll be in a hired Meganne - shakin' my arse in speyside!).
Congrats on the trip Bobbs/Scooby!

Time for an update. Bit of snow last night but only a couple of inches, made it to inverness no problem and decided to carry on a bit as there didn't seem to be much in inverness to keep us there. Currently in a hotel in Nairn. Weather has been ok most of the day but supposed to be heavy snow in this area tonight and tomorrow so will see how it goes. Managed to sneak a few handbrake turns in on some snowy bits for a giggle

It's hardly snowed at all in Aberdeen today, and the main roads are all nicely cleared. More snow is forecast but hopefully it won't amount to too much

Right

Bobbs and Scooby should be in Aberdeen this afternoon at some point. The plan is to grab a bite to eat and then go for drinks. Im thinking Dizzys in Carden Place. MattB is up for it anyone else??

Let me know, if you want pm me and I can tell you my number so that we can let you know where we are.

Obviously with the snow it looks like we will have to revise the plans for tomorrows drive (2 of the roads we were going to go on are blocked by snow )

But whether its just going to be a beerfest tomorrow (heres hoping ) let me know if your interested.

Cheers
Craig

1. Not only that but it didn't freeze on in the -10c temperatures overnight
2. It wasn't in a McDonalds carpark and there wasn't enough room to turn round normally. Well, that's my excuse anyway
