Hi,took my car in to PT for a live map last week and after the recent negative thread about them i just like to share my experience about my visit. Got there at 9.30am and made feel very welcome by everyone. After a brief chat with Rob he put the car on the roller and talked me through the process.3-4 hours later the result was 286 bhp and 276lb torque @1.3 bar. At 450+ vat a throw its not cheap but i rather pay a bit more and knowing the job is done properly rather than pay less, goes @arsed up and need to do it again. All in all im very happy with the job PT has done and if people are a bit unsure wheather to take their cars there or not my advice is,book your car in, it will be in safe hands Steve

Is it 450+vat everytime? Or is it a lot cheaper for a remap one the initial has been done?

They charge their hourly rate for a remap ... or in my case, they sent me a new chip for free when I needed some minor adjustments (as I live a little far away).

He's got Fishy Dave/Ben H old car.
Enjoying Coop ownership, second time round . Also enjoying RWD action in a thundering V8 E90 M3.

Hi, @Flea: spec is Turbo Technics S161 hybrid, fmic,Turbo back blue flame,Ramair induction,Blitz I initially wanted a Unichip remap but Rob recommended the live map as that will produce bit more power and more importantly, safety.:) They charge £110+vat an hour for the unchip map and a flat rate of £450+vat for the live map. Is the power produced good with the mods i've got?

It shouldn't take more than 2 hours for a remap really.

When PTS remapped my car last year the ecu was faulty but they carried on mapping it anyway and cocked it up.Although torque is slightly down compared to Dave's figures it now drives better than ever and is holding 1.1 bar redline. Yes,the Unichip has been removed by Rob. Is the live map that much better to justify the extra cost or just have the Unichip remapped and saved some dosh?

IMO you should have gone for the latter and saved yourself £250. I don't think the live map gives any more power or more safety than a unichip. It just comes down to how the mapper sets your car up.

I've just changed my Live map booking from next week as I cannot make it, and PT are now booking into November!!! They must be doing quite a lot right to have that sort of lead time...but it's worth bearing in mind if you are thinking of going!
