Why would a private seller invite a part exchange? Especially when they're claiming to raise money for something?

Its the car your buying not the seller.

Maybe he wants a cheap runner, maybe wants to spend no more than 1k, who knows, i'd be looking at the car though, not the seller.

Look and pay attention at the car, not its circumstances, car is no different if its owned by someone who may be lying or trade is it?

That car is or has been advertised on here too. Im sure a hunt would find it.

Age makes very little difference to the price of standard 20vt coupes...much more about mileage and history (not that mileage matters so much if there is a full history )

I thought I recognised the plate but doing a quick search I discovered the number is very similar to one of the press cars Fiat used at the launch of the 20vt P451CCF.......

There was a whole series of 20vt's registered with Pxxx CCF numbers (mine was 452) that went out to the press for testing (460 was the first Autocar test IIRC, 456 was in a lot of magazines also). Being the anorak I was (am?) I had a whole list of these numbers and where the cars had featured, sadly lost when my laptop hard disk died, but who cares really anyway, at least I still have all the article
