After an initial prob with a hose being off i was able to do my run.
Originally i still had the factory ebv running and was getting bad boost spike, did see 285bhp though
I then fitted the prv i took with me which gave me a better boost line than previous & the operater was happyier with.
Was running very slightly lean in the midrange but at 0.82 at max rpm.

The Result
279.3 bhp
242 lbft

MY GRAPH

My Spec.
Fmic, sip, apexi, hks ssqv, walbro, gtech2, blueflame turbo back system, standard turbo, prv set to 1.2 bar.

I have still to fit my greddy which will help things and also got a gt28rs sat in my room which will go on when i get my 5 stud dowpipe sorted.

Nice results, very good torque curve although the Greddy will eliminate the boost spike early on \:\)

Hello \:\)
Really nice to see that the standard turbo can reach almost 280 hp. I just wonder why you have less torque than me? Our setup is almost the same \:P

Think you will find Rog @ Powerfiat managed a smidge over 300bhp on a standard turbo

That was may result from last year also on a maha rolling road. Turbo was standard with a squadra chip. I just compared the difference from my engine power to your engine power. What a big difference! But hey, i got 2 more HP at the wheels \:P

how come some people get vastly different transmission losses?

I recently got 215BHP at the flywheel with a boost leak, and other problems. Thats 65BHP less than you with similar mods. I got 180BHP at the wheels, only 20 less. \:\?

Because some RR vastly over estimate transmission losses so the customers think they have more HP. Probably only way to really compare RR results is to use the same RR on the same day etc.

Have a read of this:

http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/setup01.htm

http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/POWER3.htm

Cheesy is that an 80BHP transmission loss? Thats absolutely massive!

Thats a great article.

quote:

"What each individual car loses is an unknown - it will depend on tyre sizes and pressure, suspension angles and other things, but it shouldn't be far from the figures above. For sure though, no 2wd car in the world, unless it has flat tyres and a gearbox full of sand, loses anything like 30% of the engine's power in the transmission and tyres as many rolling road operators would try to have you believe."

Unfortunately it's simply not that "simple" Rolling roads are not all the same in that the hardware can be very different. If you load the rollers more and provide more artificial traction i.e. twin rollers where the tyre is pinched, then you will have greater transmission losses. Obviously these are not "real world" road losses, but for the purposes of the rolling road they are real and have to be calculated. Powerstation use a MAHA dyno (as used by Audi and Porsche) and their losses are higher than most, on the flip side Perfect Touch uses a Dastek dyno which has much higher wheel power but very small transmission losses. In fact Dastek dynos show slightly lower fly power than most dynos.

The upshot of this is that wheel power can vary by a huge amount, in my case I have seen over 40bhp different at the wheels on the above dynos. There have been many, many coupes on the Powerstation dyno ranging from standard to modified. Do a search and you will find they all make expected power based on being standard or modded. It is equally odd to have transmission losses of 7% as it is to have losses of 22% as the established opinion says it should be somewhere exactly in the middle!

Well said Flea. I have looked into this issue aswell (with your help) and bizarrely enough the flywheel figures usually all correspond (roughly) but its the wheel power that is different.

I had 2 rolling roads at the same time with the same setup.

319bhp with 245atw from a maha dynometer
284atw with 315bhp from a custom dynometer.

Only way to compare is by attending the same rolling road.
