there;s a lot of difference between different semi slicks. Stuff like Yoko A032R soft compound and Toyo R888 heat up more easily than the likes of Pirelli Pzero C/Corsa and Dunlop D01J/DZ02G.

Dunlops have stiff sidewalls so good for the track. The 888s are slightly softer and when I borrowed Barbz's set they did make a slight difference in the region of 1/10th

Track tyres arent the way to go. I bought a pair of Mickey Thompson ET Drag slicks an they work pretty good. And they actually don't need very much "warming up" you just need to do a reasonable burnout get them to smoke a bit and they're good to go. Fairly easy to get sub 2s 60ft times with these. I did constant 1.9s times at a drag event no problem. Clutch dump at 6000rpm you get a very slight spin and off the line it goes. Was quite fun getting off the line just as fast as the evo and scooby guys
Bad thing with these is that they don't work very good on standard road tarmac, might as well use street tyres on tarmac. But on concrete strips and "real" drag strips they're perfect.

Yeah it was a lovely cold day, but traction was still an issue. It was a total spur of the moment decision to go down, hence running on my road tyres. Heck, I even left my sub in which must add loads of weight.
Maybe next year the time will come down, who knows.
It was worth it to see and hear the Ultima as well.
