Is on Ebay at present, at the following link

HERE

Went to see it for the first time 2 weeks ago, impressions were:-
- Paintwork looks mint overall, no cracks in the light clusters, only rust that I could see in the obvious areas (rear light cluster, boot seals, spare wheel chamber, exhaust silencer) was the bit connecting the exhaust silencer to the tailpipe. Wheels have not been refurbed however but they are ok condition with the odd bit of light kerbing.
- Rattled quite a bit when on the move but was'nt horrendous. I was in the passenger seat (I did not drive it at that time).
- A basic checkover found nothing obviously amiss, although he only has the silver and red key (no blue one). Tonne of paperwork that I did not go through entirely but looked in order.
- Tested red key in ignition (to check if it was genuine) and worked fine after a couple of attempts!
- Could'nt hear any ticking/rattle from the engine bay (manifold) but it was not cold started when I heard it as he had already picked me up from the station in the coupe.
- Engine sounded good and could'nt hear any suspension clonks as such. It would have helped if I could have driven it I suppose, which I would if I was tempted in buying it.
- Aircon worked ok.
- From the paperwork, I could see the "major jobs" done were cambelt and all auxillaries in feb 05 and a new radiator in feb 05, new oil cooler and pipes in feb 05, new exhaust in june 06, the new clutch this year. Servicing was carried out regularly without fail and alot of money spent!

So overall promising but I am no mechanic and am not 100% certain this is "mint" but as said above, I don't think it is worth £3950, when some cars on here have been better (cambelt, turbo recon, clutch, oil cooler pipes, aircon regas, bodykit, refurbed alloys) for almost the same money.....hmmmm decisions, decisions

£3,200 is reasonable IMO ... look at lots and lots of them before you buy - maybe see if someone from the forum can go along too....

Had a second visit yesterday and got a 10 minute test drive (yipee!) and a further look at it. Final impressions....

- It drove well actually.
No obvious suspension clonks, brakes only squeaked once and no shuddering under firm braking from about 35mph (did not drive any faster than 45mph around town but put my foot to the floor in 1st,2nd and 3rd)
Steering wandered to the left occasionally but on smooth flat tarmac it was ok, boost came on strong at just under 3000rpm.
- Car has no alarm strangely enough but the immobiliser worked fine. Did the coupe come with an alarm as standard?
- Undertray was present (plastic?)
A tiny bit had broken off at the front bumper end, drivers side and some bolts underneath looked rusted where it was missing. This seem ok to you guys?
- Car has a sunroof and when I pushed the seat to a more upright position, my head was brushing against the roof. I'm 5'11, so this seemed strange as I am not THAT tall. If I pushed the seat into a slightly more reclined position, I had about half and inch of room above my head. So not sure about this..
- Gearbox was smooth once I got used to it a little.
- Clutch biting point was high, right near the top (new clutch this year)
- visibility for reversing and seeing near the kerbs was bloody awful and not helped by the mirrors not being able to look down to the kerb.
- Started the car from cold. Started first time. I thought I heard a ticking noise when I had the bonnet open (mani?) but not sure as it was not that loud and it could have been the injectors, you guys have me being paranoid ;-)
- Got him to rev the engine a few times to 4krpm, just after the test drive, no smoke detected at all.

So all in all I've seen as much as I can, with my limited knowledge, so over to you guys:-
- What do you think it is worth?
- etc.. etc..

Thanks
Alan

No alram is common - but youll need one (insurance - so haggle point?)
Your OK with the undertray..
Bumper - haggle point
Ticking could be Gasket???Dunno maybe
Visibility is like that in every coupe...

Rest sounds OK - Its up for £3600 ish
As i say £3,200 maybe???maybe less..with crimbo and slow car sales - you may be able to get some leverage from that..not too many coupe buyer around at this time of year...

Looks fairly honest, LE kit and lips will cover the crack in front bumper up!

L&M know what they're doing, so if they've been looking after it for four years the mechanicals should all be ok.

Go on treat yourself.

The sunroof has ben a problem for me too. \:mad\: If it seems a problem for you now, it'll only get worse and start giving you concussion in the future (especially over speed bumps). \:D

Don't mean to put you off but try to drive one without the sunroof and I think you'll be converted.

As it will be effectively a weekend car (5000 miles a year at most) is it liveable? maybe I can get used to reclining the seat slightly to offset it.

I'm 5'9 (and a bit) and the sunroof is no problem for me at all...can't see how it's an issue if you're *only* 5'11 \:\?

Believe me it's a major problem if you're 5' 11+ and have a sunroof. I've got an X reg 20VT(6) and I've gone to the extent of getting a leather interior in the hope of reducing the seat height. It's literally less than an inch but it makes all the difference.

My head is nowhere near the sunroof and my brother is 5'11 and has no issue (and his height is in his body, not legs) \:\? Was neither a problem with the earlier cloth nor the current leather...do you have the seat very far forward?

Nope, not really. A few coop owners have commented that the seats seem slightly high on mine though.

I think the fact that he's already catching his head is not a good thing but he may get away with it if it's limited usage. \:\?

Deffo won't have the problem with a non-sunroof model. \:\)

It has to be something to do with the firmness of the seats \:\?

I nearly bought my first coupe of an ex fccuker called Elephantasmo. He was 6' 7" his coupe had a sunroof and he had no problems at all \:\)

At 6'3" I made sure my 3rd Coupe didn't have a sunroof. My hairstyle isn't flat and it was always rubbing on the ceiling...annoying!

I'm 6'1 and *just* fit with the sunroof in my coop, I reckon there is about an inch gap between my head and the roof.

There seem to be various types of sunroof.
Mine has a Webasto sunroof which doesn't have the interior blind and it offers a good inch or 2 of extra clearance over the normal factory one.

back on topic, when started the ticking noise could be a small crack in the manifold which seals when warm

- If it's the injectors ticking then you can tell just by putting your ear next to them that the sound is clearly coming from them.

- If it pulls to one side then it could mean a wishbone needs replacing.

- If the clutch is new then should it not bite at the carpet, rather than at the top? It might just need adjusting though.

- I'm 5'10 with a sunroof and I'm miles away from touching it. \:\?

Do you have the seat reclined or more upright? I have been having my seat in an upright position for years, so maybe that's why.
