After reading a few reviews I today brought the Jaycar xc 0224 temp sensor kit, good for temps up to 150c to -50c. It has max temp recall (telltale) as well as user defined alarm points if things get to warm.

Was a bargin at 15GBP as shown in the photo, the Subaru guys use it but now trying to figure out how to secure the sensor in the FMIC plumbing

The sub guys use a 3.2mm brass compression gland with olives, mounting into a spare plate in the intake

Anyone give me an idea of how/where they mounted it, I need to extend the wire which is fine apparently, but just locating the sensor is the challenge.

pic of kit

Cheers

I don't use this type, but I just punched a hole through the rubber intake hose and secured it there. Nice to see people testing their stuff though!

Ross, not long but it can be extended, maybe 500mm OE, here is a link that shows the setup and review. they extend it 1.5m

It's irrelevant Saint, mine is completely different.

Actually, on second thoughts, what about some tiny E rings clipped on with a blob of good glue behind them?
Hmmm, bit dodgy.....

Just a thought, precisely what diameter is the probe?
Looking at what you posted above is it 3.2mm?

Ok, well mine has a pair of grooves in it, these go either side of the wall of the pipe I push it through, I then push an E ring on either groove to stop it from going in or out, I use rubber O rings and washers to seal it and make up any difference in thickness (maybe a bit of silicone over the top if you want it perfect). If you can't visualise it let me know, I'll take a pic.

So how can you make a groove on yours?

Just don't go too far and crop it off!
