Was just wondering what the average age of coupe owners within this club are? Haven't seen a coupe YET to be driven by a 18 year old chav. Would have thought the age band would be widening now as prices have dropped to affordable ranges,even insurance was ok at 23 for me

well im 20 "sweetride" and ive got a coupe but ive also gt my own flooring business i started 1 1/2 yrs ago so i needed to trade my fiesta turbo for a more suitable car for when i go to customers houses to give estimates as little red fiesta turbo burbling away outside a customers house doesnt give off the right impression. . . .. . where as the coop is bit more of a mans car and much more comftable to drive etc!

saying that i did have a green coupe about a year ago when i was 19 but bloke who sold it to me knew it was knackered and it only lasted 2000miles GRRRRRR and as i was only 19 couldnt afford insurance as no one would touch me SShhhhhhh . . . . but im all ligit now lol so im on my 2nd one but this has been looked after . . . .

25 here, was 23 when i entered into the weird and wonderful world of coupe ownership. It was also my very first car! Having driven my mother's 1litre Suzuki Swift for the 5 years previous to that.

I was 28 when I got my 16v n/a. It's been sold over a year now.

However, I'm 31 now and within a month or so of getting my 1st 20VT! Sweeeeeet...

44 and ms pebbles 34, had the coupe 15 month,s now spent £1800 on her and still love the car..

im 36 and can honestly say its the only car ive owned that makes me grin when i drive it and when i see rear sides sloping up in winng mirrors

Eeeh 44 is a great age - but wish I had the £1800 outlay you've had Pebbles. Almost 2 years of ownership and outlay nearly £3K. Based on the coop ownership head in the sand formula of real outlay then half it, half again then take away a healthy wedge of £500 then you're smiling You buy these cars with your heart and not yer bonce

Had my first Coupe when I was 28 - didn't keep it long due to insurance "issues"! Hats off to the younger generation here - how on earth do you run these monsters!?

Having said that - I did have a Porsche before I was 30. And I drove a 911 when I was 17.

No other commitments, no family to provide for, etc..

(and I can work as much overtime as I want/need)

Who are you insured with as a matter of interest and how have you done it? My insurance was a pain to sort out and had to go with admiral in the end.

im insured with the post office. just did a confused search, they came out the cheapest, gave them a call to get a better price and put my mum and gf on my policy, insurance for the fiat and 300zx are on the same policy, i just call them and switch between the cars.

suprisingly the fiat is more expensive to insure than the nissan, despite the nissan having an extra cylinder, turbo and being one litre bigger.

Mines around £1400. with mum and the missus on my policy. mum has several years no claims and although i dont have any aand i have a speeding ticket i managed to get a reasonable price.

its around £120 a month for the fiat and around £110 for the nissan.

Iv got it under my dads name with me as a driver, and on a multicar poilcy with my dads car...all thru admiral, 90 quid a month fully comp(with a bigish excess )

i'm quite shocked at this thread that the majority are quite young! everytime i go to a meet most of people are older than me! i'm not saying thats a bad thing though!

Well to be honest its not an perfectly accurate survey as the first 18-25yr bracket is obviously 8 years in length as opposed to all the other brackets being 5 years (apart from the final 50+ bracket obviously).

Personally i turn 26 in a a few months so on another survey would fit into the second bracket and fro mthe comments on here there are a few others that would do too.

iv had a skyline,200sx,starlet turbo before the coupe

25, picked up my 20vt last year. Alfas, MR2s and Supercharged MR2s and a polo before that. I'm pretty surprised at the poll result too!

Well I've had mine a while now. Ever since I was a dashing young blade

Tell the truth just after the war was the worst time, parts were still on ration. No one had any petrol, dealers only open 3 days a week.

Luckily my wife used to do some ironing for the butcher so he always slipped her an extra length of sausage.
Every now and then she'd let me have some left overs and I would swap a sausage or two for petrol vouchers. It was the only way to keep the car on the road.

Had the coop from new (97) and all servicing (inc cambelt) done at local dealers.

Really nice gent who admitted to still "giving it some" when the need arose.
