Just sorted out my insurance for the year and I got it down to £568 F/C with my NCP . I have 7 years NCB, a perfect driving record and I’m 25 . The amassing part of this quote is that it covers my misses (22 with 2 years NCB and a clean licence) . I'm well happy . Now I don't have to be sitting in dog fur in a cr@py VW Golf when we go out and I want a drink . Thanks Noel Dazely providing the misses doesn’t bin the car!

They quoted me 10% on top of my quote of £400 for my mods, so not bad at all. I'll be going with them when my renewal comes round.
One of the lads in work has just bought a fully modded new shape beetle, ex-yokohama show car, full bodykit, VR6 engine transplant from new, ap racing 4 pots and custom interior, chipped engine with modded exhaust and induction kit and it's a left hooker. He's 25 and they insured him for the sum of a grand, bargain I thought.

So do i tell them:
Have EVO Chip, Induction Kit, After market alloys, (soon to have Coilovers and 3" turbo back exhaust by the time of renewal)
Or would this be crazy?

Just tried Greenlight (£1300!) Adrian Flux (£900) and finally Noel Dazely who came up trumps with £650.
This is fully comp for an LE, all mods declared and wife driving too. I am an old git at 43 but I only have 2 years NCB otherwise I supsect it would have been much lower.
Well done ND - the guy I spoke to - Paul - asked me to post regarding their quote and I am happy to do that.

Because I'm lazy and don't want to bother these guys can someone (with a policy) tell me if, if you are over 25 whether you can drive other vehicles 3rd party, and what restrictions you have.
I know less and less insurers are offering this service now and am interested only because I want to be able to drive my old mans car from time to time and it would also be good if I can drive any friends car home from the pub should he have had too many pints.
Thanks.
p.s. JayB: Declare you're mods or you'll not be insured mate. what's the point paying £1700/year for nothing?
p.p.s. My quote came in at £618 (12 months | 25 yo | 20VT (R) | 3 points (3+ yrs ago) | 1 x crash | GF & mum on ins | driveway | 3 NCD | no mods ) Pretty good I thought.

They're a broker so you'll find that each of us may well be insured with a different company and different rules may apply.
However, I think in most cases if you are insured fully comp you are allowed to drive another car provided you have the owners permission and that car is also insured.
Just to add, ND are very good and easily the cheapest I have tried. Greenlight couldn't quote me due to my highly dangerous Leeds postcode!!!

When i was insured with HIC i could drive any car 3rd party and i was only 21, so took them up on the offer as it was only an extra £7 for the option. I was only insured on my main car TPFT
Your car is Usain Bolt with wellies

Yep, they were best for me too.
But what are they like if, heaven forbid, anyone has had to make a claim? Has it all been a hassle-free experience?

Got to agree with this, also in the event of a failed claim, ND may no longer look at the Coupe as a Worthy car to insure and we will all have to look elsewhere.
BTW, renewed last week for £465 29yrs, 7/8 yrs ncb, clean licence.

Yeah a few of the mods i have not had done yet anyway. My renewal is 15th March, not getting zorst done till 17th, but will put it on anyway. At the mo ND are falling way behind a quote from Admiral. Proposed renewal from ND is £1389, thats with me being 21,3 yrs NCB, without declaring the mods soon to be done and inc alloys. Admiral quoted £1116 with all present and near future mods declared!
Waiting for a call from ND....

Sounds like Admiral are very competitive. I wouldnt have even been able to afford coupe a 21! You luck man
Forget to add, my coupe is standard apart from Bailey DV30.

Yeah think admiral may be my best bet at the mo unless ND come back with an outstanding quote! I can only just afford the coupe shippy! But its worth every penny....when things are going OK anyway!!

I think ND are very competitive on modded cars, while you may find mainstream insurers do well on standard ones

Who are they using for underwriters?
The proof of the premium is how claims are handled. Anyone got any feedback on this?

Just tried ND, but they won't quote because I travel to NI for work sometimes, even though my car is very securely parked and I have a 'company' car to use.

Yes, I noticed Admiral are very points-unfriendly. They quoted £1,300 for me.

Noel Dazely had the best quote for me when I shopped around a couple of weeks ago. £520 protected no claims with all the extras (legal protection, hire car etc).
That was for 7 points, kept on driveway, used for commuting, no accidents, one glass claim, 7 years no claims.
But now Privilege, my existing insurers, have come up with a belter of a quote. £477.75 all in.
I haven't got back to ND or the others yet to see if they can beat it but I'll be surprised if they can.
