Iv had a 16vt since i was 18. Insurance was done with Admiral Multicar with me and my dad on both cars. No problems at all. No probs with police either smile
Im now 19 (20 in May) and have just bought a 20vt. Insurance is a pain on this and alot more expensive (Admiral wouldn't insure me this time round)

Modified it went up to £1300. Then next year, £1100 and this year down to £806.

Was 21 when I got my 16VT. The insurance crippled me then, god knows how you young bucks insure 20VT's @19 nowadays, made of money crazy laugh Personally if I could have gone back I'd have drove a nice hot hatch until I was 22, saving myself a couple of grand (and still YEARS left to enjoy a coupe!)

I was 21 and didnt use it until 22 as well. Never been pulled over despite my dark windows and tiny front number plate that came with it but I thought that was pushing it a bit so got a proper sized one.

Insurance wasnt a problem, had loads of quotes around £1500 but ended up at £1200, should come down under £1000 this time round...

I'm 22 and the insurance isn't that bad.

What's average age of a coupe driver then?

This thread has now been given a link from google called "little tikes Coupe" Great toys at fantastic prices from mothercare :D" Google seems to have our mental ages down perfectly...

I'm 35, but I feel younger. And I can spend the £1100 I've saved on my (fully comp) insurance on anti-wrinkle cream. tongue

I got my 20VT about 2 days after I turned 21. Insurance is a pig - I pay 1600. Was only 1100 with Greenlight but I shant go into that.

I've only ever been pulled over once by the police and they didnt really make any comments about the beast. I was quite gutted tbh lol.

I'm not really young anymore but for the sake of balancing out the averages, my insurance is £600 odd quid fully comp, I'm 30 years old, and I've got 12 years no claims (protected, which adds about £80 to the policy). First thing though I set my voluntary excess to £550, and secondly, my quote hasn't really changed much in the past few years..it's been about that price since I was 25/26 (atho this was on a different Coupe, it was still a 20vt though, albeit not a modded plus)

if anybody is looking for reasonable insurance, im with Bell Direct.
there owned by the same company as others like elephant and hastings or someone like that apparently.
iv been with them for ages now and there the cheapest by far.
i pay alot now because i have moved to oldham near limeside (crimeside) and it is a bad area for car crime and that sort of thing.
my insurance is about £950 fully comp with alloys and exhaust on it with 4 years no claims.
if i was still in wales it would be alot cheaper than that.
probably get it for about £650-£700.
you should try Bell Direct there sure to be cheaper than most insurers.

I don't really understand how occupation can affect insurance?
I say I'm in the Media business and no one touches me, but if I say I'm a part time music teacher, it's cheap as chips!!!! What's that about?

I would guess it has something to do with the cost of repairing them.

I'll third that! We're with Bell £340 a year basic insurance, fully comp! With added extras like courtesy car, legal cover etc it goes up to about £440! Not bad for Mr L AND me! laugh

I bought my 16vt when I was 22, Insurance is about £720(IIRC) and thats fully comp. I've got 3 years NCB and my only mod is non standard alloys.

I agree with bigtop too, I was with bell for a few years, part of the admiral group and were really helpful. They specialise in lower NCB isnsurance (under 3 years) so couldn't match elephant for me this year, even though they are the same company?

I was with admiral for three years and they had the bonus accelerator, I've just realised I've insured my car with five years no claims when I have six crazy Not sure it'd have made any difference to the quote, but I will ring them anyway monday.
