After a turbulent time with my car Im considering selling up. As some of you may know the car is currently idling at 1.5bar oil pressure and although everything seems perfectly fine (oil pressure goes right up to 3 bar when you go above 1.5/2k rpm, no noises etc) I know it will affect a sale price. It's a 1998 20VT NON AC with leather The car has 67k on the clock, and the replacement engine has done around 6.5k since being fitted last year by Motormech. The list of mods that I can think of right now are: LE Side Skirts, Lips, colour coded valances front and rear. Lester Grill LE Headlights Clear Indicator Lenses HID's Baileys DV26 Dump Valve Walbro 255 Fuel Pump Gtec 1 hf version Powdercoated Cam Cover (with weld on corner but hardly noticeable) Apexi Induction Kit Sparco Strut Brace Blueflame catback exhaust Bilstein uprated front shocks, Koni uprated rear shocks Eibach lowering springs - 30mm Cesam Daytona 17" Alloys with virtually brand new Goodyear Eagle F1's (Done about 1k if that on them since fitting) Nomad Single Pillar Pod with Equus Boost Gauge Jap PRV Richbrook Gear Knob and Fiat OE Handbrake (blasted so matt colour rather than shiny) Speedo Rings Pininfarina Kick Plates as per the group buy on here. 3G 10 Grooved Discs front and rear with RedDot Fast Road Pads. Brembo's painted Red and rear brakes also painted Red. Alpine Stereo Belts were changed last year with the engine replacement as were oil cooler pipes, manifold, phase sensor and a few other bits too. The car is non AC but does have leather (which is pretty good condition I think). The car also has a year's MOT (got tested 3 days ago). It had to get some welding done and some brake pipes replaced but other than that it passed fine. The bad points are that the bodywork could do with a tidy up and the central locking is problematic. The blipper will lock the doors just not open them So, next question is how much could I ask with the oil pressure issue in mind or do you think this will put off all buyers? It's quite sad that Im considering selling up but with a wedding to plan next year I just don't think I can afford to keep running the coop. This car has been very well maintained (it also has a full service history) but I think its time for a change

Boo! you can't sell just cos you're getting married! 1.5 doesn't seem that bad, although in my (painful) experience, nobody wants a poorly coop Keep it TD!
Coopless!

Alas Im not wanting to sell it just because of the marriage It's just that my heart isn't really in it anymore.. And although the oil pressure is low the car is running perfectly So not strictly poorly But I do realise that this will put off buyers perhaps I should just break it Although don't have the space/time/knowledge to do that either

It may very well be fine but I think its the final straw. The question is how much this will affect a sale. Or will buyers run a mile?

Three choices really, have an engine rebuild to get the pressure back, sell as is and take a drop in price or dismantle.
It might be an idea to get the oil pressure checked by a garage, the pressure sensor or gauge may be telling fibs.

Already gone through all that here , although I had to buy the pressure tester as no garages in Aberdeen would do it! The gauge is accurate..

Roger mentioned the turbo, what state is your unit in?
I haven't checked it yet but it seems okay, the car was slightly smoky after a recent oil change but I put this down to overfilling of oil (couldn't have been by much though if any). I checked the piping as the guys said this may be oily/dirty if the turbo was going but looked clean to me..

Bring it down on Saturday - you can leave it and I'll give you a lift home then I should manage to have a look at it for you.

I bought my Coupe with just over 1.5 bar minimum oil pressure, I changed the oil for a bit thicker stuff and it went up to 2 bar minimum, I changed the turbo for a GT28R and it went up to 2.5 bar minimum, and still going strong, so I wouldnt say it's as big an issue as you might think. A lot of people probably wont be bothered or even notice as long as it runs well.

I'm a numpty, but FWIW when I bought my na it was doing 1.5 hot and 14k miles later it's still doing 1.5 hot. It might put off knowledgeable buyers but not prats like me, and if you otherwise want to keep it I really wouldn't worry.

Thick enough. Some Millers 15/50 might make a difference on the gauge but I really wouldn't worry about it too much.

you know what i've always stuck some "hi-performance LUCAS heavy duty oil stabilizer" in all my turbo cars from the uno turbo's to subaru and my coupe's and totally recommend it.
dont know where you could get it from where you are but i get it from "eastfield auto parts" in peterborough, bloody good stuff.
it's like slick 50 only this seems to work, it's about £15 for a ltr.

What oil do you put in it? Always use Silkolene Pro S 10w-50 Both of my coops always ran low pressure on silkolene, nothing wrong with either of them eitehr, they are btoh still goign strong many years later. Once I had changed to Selenia 20k or racing in the modded one, it was up to 2.5 and hardly ever went down to 2.0 let alone 1.5. At the time I do remember reading on here that a few others found this as well. Maybe try a diff oil, I would hate for you to rebuild the engine or scrap it, if this was all it was

TD - you're not alone mate. I've been wondering if I should put her back to standard and get something else. A £15k loan is JUST £310 a month over 5 years... Tuscans are £15k...

in my opinion anyone thinking of selling a modded coop would only be best taking it to standard and selling the mods on... or going to lose out big time.
But also i would never sell, keep it wait till it hits classic then sell... they go for nothing and really are not worth selling.

id say £3/3300 considering spec etc . . . . but as coupes are not going for there true value to sell right now would maybe have to look at accepting offers somewhere between £2700/3000 but if someone wants the car bad enough they will have to pay what you want!

Easily £3000. Anyone offering less is a taking the pi$$. The reason the prices are not holding is because people dont want to wait for the asking price.. Too many in a rush for the reddies. The Coop is an old car now, and many people dont even know what a Fiat coupe is lol. So then we try sell on here, but we know how difficult that has been lately, due to the bargains people have witnessed.
If your willing to wait you will get 3k. But Autotrader is the best alternative, there it will stand out against traders prices/cars too!

Just to bring this backup. The car is currently getting an oil change, wheel bearing change and the brake pipe changed. Once this is done it will be going up for sale I'll put up a proper ad once I get the car back and take some pics etc but if anyone wants any more info please get in touch. Thanks

Don't fancing a wheel-deal first? Hadn't really thought about it to be honest.. although there are 4 virtually brand new Eagle F1's fitted Probably be a bit too much trouble, plus I think the wheels really make the car
