This is mentioned in the Greenlight thread further down, and is something I'm considering. With or without insurance, what's the score if someone messes it up and crashes into you on a trackday? That someone who, of course, may or may not themselves be insured? Thanks

Trackday insurance only covers your car. If someone crashes into you - or you crash into someone else etc. It makes no difference, i.e you can't get your car fixed on someone else track day insurance if they plow into the back of you.

Thanks Si. Pretty much a must then. I doubt DirectLine will offer this to me, so who to go to for this cover per day, instead of an addition to a 'normal' policy?

The cheapest track day insurance usually involves dragging it out to the nearest main road (using a 3.9 Rangie!), pushing it into a hedge and reporting a diesel spill!

Competition Car Insurance 0115 941 5255 www.competition-car-insurance.co.ukYou can get one day cover through these guys. Highwayman might be able to help you out as well. I get mone covered via greenlight for a one off cost per day - they also do my road insurance though. There was a massive thread on this on the old forum - I dont suppose anyone's saved it???

I'll remember that one just in case. Good job you're only a few mins down the road from Brands

Richard You can also get single or multi day cover from Moris for around £70-80. They also offer breakdown cover to get you home for a reasonable price . If you want to go the whole hog, I have my car insured through HIC for on-road and track use. The excess for track use is £1000 , but I only paid about £150 extra for a whole years cover. They also offer a guaranteed value scheme, so you don't even need to argue the toss about what your car is worth in the event of the worst happening . Phil

Cheers guys, I will sort something out. Pussying about on track worried someone'll hit me kinda defeats the whole exercise I'll take a one-dayer then look to go the whole hog if I get hooked like you Phil

Just to be slightly picky . Whilst Moris and Competition Car Insurance do specific track day policies, only covering you whilst you are on track, HIC do standard on-road policies that extend to cover the car for track days, albeit with an increased excess. This is an important distinction, as with HIC you get annual cover for track days for approx. £150 more than you can get an on-road policy elsewhere, whereas Moris are likely to charge you between £70 and £90 for a single day. Basically, if you are thinking of doing more than a couple of track days a year, HIC are worth considering come renewal time . Phil

Oh, and I almost forgot, HIC offer agreed valuation for a small additional fee and are quite happy if you have modified the car . Phil
