Today I started the process of fitting my Evo 6 FMIC. Thanks to those of you who advised me how to get the bumper off which was a good start

After removing the front bumper and backing foam I found that the IC wouldn't fit in between the shrouds to direct airflow into the aircon rad. So they had to meet an untimely end thanks to some tin snips.

The specs on the intercooler are core size 470w x 290d and 70mm thick

Once they were removed I could sit it in place as shown

Front Overall

Looks like it will fit fine - top to bottom distance looks good. Problem was that it is too wide to fit between the chassis rails. So I think, and any advice welcome that I will have to offset it to the factory intercooler side, this means I can use the factory Evo 6 brackets (easier to replace if I even damage it), and the plumbing 2.5" will have to go through where the old plumbing went. I hope this will not get in the way of my straight induction pipe

Front old IC side

This then means I can get the other pipes between the chassis rail and the radiator

Front Drivers Side

Will keep posting as slow progress is made

And yes the engine has no head - snapped cambelt so thought I would do the whole lot at once

Have you tried to see if the front bumper will go over it without having to hack some bits away as this is my main concern about this modification!!!??

Yeah, I will have to cut a small 2inch wide section out from behind the grill of bumper. Not overall happy about cutting up the standard car but it's the only way to make it fit.

I have the zender front bumper and they had to cut that by about 2inches aswell. Dont worry about it. The performance will outweigh the 2 inches

ho ho ho ho

There is a very good guide in the Styling section. It's very easy and took me 30mins I would say.

Have a look there

Can anyone who has fitted the Evo 6 intercooler let me know how they routed the pipes, I think I will have to go throught the old intercooler area as the Evo 6 IC seems to wide to allow it to be plumbed either side of the radiator.

Have got the old intercooler out tonight. More pics soon.

Ross, Is yours an Evo 6 IC? I don't know but maybe the different Evo's IC's are different sizes. I can't really see how I could get it either side unless I use maybe 120degree plus bends. Have you got any photos

I don't really see an issue with going where the old IC used to be apart from possibliy longer plumbing lenght - not much longer.

Cheers
